Well, we had better fund it or we will look up one day to see that the Chinese owns space and all that entails. I sure am glad you were not around when this country started space exploration. Do you know how many products we use in everyday life is due to space exploration and that includes medical products? Look it up. I did and was simply amazed.

Agreed.

This is a deeply American thing.
Our space program is a huge part of our national identity and critical to keeping America ahead.

We cannot allow Obama to succeed in gutting the pioneer spirit of our nation. That is what is at stake.

There is no replacement for what NASA can do.

I have never read such a liberal argument posted on FR.

Force citizens to cough up their hard earned income to fund your pet project is straight up liberalism.

What ever happened to free market. If there is enough support for Space Exploration then it should be funded by those who believe it is important, not paid for by the government collecting money under duress.
