NEAR MARJAH, Afghanistan – Helicopter-borne U.S. Marines and Afghan troops swooped down on the Taliban-held town of Marjah before dawn Saturday, launching a long-expected attack to re-establish government control and undermine support for the militants in their southern heartland.

...

Marine commanders say they expect anywhere between 400 to 1,000 insurgents to be holed up inside this southern Afghan town of 80,000 people in Helmand province, including more than 100 foreign fighters.

I’m sure that most of the Taliban and all of the al-Qaeda left, too. There might be some fanatics left, but pretty much most of the bad guys who were there are in Pakistan drinking tea now. I pray for our soldiers, but I see this as Pres. Obama’s way to prove that he’s tough on terror. This attack is certainly no surprise, and I fear, this battle will be used by both sides to claim victory. The president can claim that he was tough, and the Taliban can say that none of their guys got killed.

So much for a smooth reporting of every event. But great news that our forces have been going after the goons for some time, in these provinces.
With that. Time to sign off and get some much needed sleep. Great upcoming day to all.

Maybe they could drop a certain ‘reporter’ from Time Magazine into the center of Marjah before the blitzin starts...that way he could join his BFF’s when it all goes down.

Should have told everyone to leave the town single file into a holding area. Tell ‘em to strip and seperate the possible bad guys from the good. Then level the town. Then level the town. Then level the town. Then give good ones each ten thousand dollars .....if they don’t like it, next time don’t harbor terrorists. The bad guys get to rebuild the town while in a chain gang.

No casualties on our side. NO civilian casualties. Bad guys dead or in prison.

If the civilians left. Then the rest are the enemy and should recieve the droppings of B52s. No need to go in and play the cat and mouse game this stupid General we got overthere wants to play, handcuffing our hands with ROEs. That General is a scumbag. If he had abided by these ROEs in Iraq they never would have taken Zarqawi. They hit that house with 2 2000 pounders and knew their were civilians inside.

But that didn’t stop them. Well why not do the same now? Smack that town with bombs till its 2 inches tall.

The Afghans understand war. If we act stupid and fight stupid they will treat us with the respect a stupid person deserves. And fighting with our hands tied is S T U P I D.

From now on, they’ll be known as “Marjah Marines”.

Not Marjaheads? ;-)

Now the report is gone. I bet they had this mixed up with the suicide bomber deaths.
