Sen. McCain faces toughest re-election challenge

Defeated just two years ago as the Republican presidential candidate and with his bonafides as a true conservative again being challenged, John McCain finds himself in a struggle to get even his party's nomination for another term in the Senate.

Conservatives, independents and Tea Party activists are lining up behind Republican challenger and former talk radio host J.D. Hayworth, reflecting a rising tide of voter frustration with incumbent politicians. Only 40 percent of Arizonans have a favorable view of McCain's job performance.

>>>>>Former running mate Sarah Palin and newly elected Republican Sen. Scott Brown, both popular with conservatives, are pitching in. McCain is launching his own statewide tour, complete with visits next month from Palin and Brown, who already has recorded calls asking Republicans to support McCain.

Palin is popular with conservatives because she is right on the issues. Scott Brown is nothing but a Romney and Giuliani clone.

He’s from MA. And OBTW he came up fourth in a new poll for the Republican primary in 2012 above Gingrinch and Huckabee.

I am so tired of Idiot McCain. If both He and Reid lose their reelection, I might have hope for this country again.

BFD!

Brown is a Pro-abort, northeast liberal who voted for RomneyCare, believes in man made global warming and states rights for gay marriage. IOW, a skunk!

Kyl turned on the people of Arizona vis a vis amnesty. No wonder he backs McCain.

I did click on your link. It appears the whole Republican establishment is lining up behind McCain. Not surprising - I'm sure he collected a lot of IOU's in all those years.

I'm not from AZ, but as an outsider I'd say McCain's need to collect all those endorsements reflects a degree of panic on his part. Why in the world does a four term Senator need to do that?

Congress' approval has never been lower. There is a big anti-incumbent mood. McCain may have lots of endorsements and may be up in the polls right now, but, hey, so was Coakley until the last couple of weeks. I say he's right to be scared.

All politics are local. And I guess the people of MA felt he better represented them rather than the masses of the rest of the Country as our founders wanted it to be.

Hayworth represented his district well until it was redistricted. He voted for spending for american indians spending cuz he felt it was the only way he would get reelected, but he lost.

On amnesty yes. If amnesty with chain migration ever passes, nothing else will matter. It is the perfect litmus test for who does or doesn’t care about the USA.

I don’t pimp for anyone. Seems I’m not alone considering Kyl, Flake and Franks have all come out in support for McCain.

No one can question the conservatism of any of those federal office holders.

“Seems I’m not alone considering Kyl, Flake and Franks have all come out in support for McCain.”

Where are your supporters for Kyl? I don’t see any from Arizona.

“No one can question the conservatism of any of those federal office holders.”

No CONSERVATIVE is for amnesty with chain migration.

I have 2 PREREQUISITES for my vote.

1) Pro life

2) No amnesty of any kind.

Don’t like em? Too bad.

Even if Hayworth were to lose, the pressure is now on McCain to behave himself for the rest of the primary:

I don’t know what the voting day is for the AZ primary, but I hope it’s still many months away. Time is on Hayworth’s side.
