Sen. McCain faces toughest re-election challenge

Defeated just two years ago as the Republican presidential candidate and with his bonafides as a true conservative again being challenged, John McCain finds himself in a struggle to get even his party's nomination for another term in the Senate.

Conservatives, independents and Tea Party activists are lining up behind Republican challenger and former talk radio host J.D. Hayworth, reflecting a rising tide of voter frustration with incumbent politicians. Only 40 percent of Arizonans have a favorable view of McCain's job performance.

I liked J.D. when he was in office. As an out-of-stater I’ve lost track of him since he lost. I’d gladly take him over McCain.

Simcox is broke. Can’t handle his campaign dollars just like he couldn’t handle his ‘fence’ dollars. People who know his antics weren’t in the mood to be fooled again.

He’s done. And that’s a good thing.

Go, J.D. Go! Before McCain can pass some more nanny state legislation.

McCain strikes another blow to freedom! Legislation alert!

_____

US Senate campaign of border vigilante Chris Simcox is BROKE, debts piling up fast as contributions slow to a trickle

Former Minuteman Civil Defense Corps president turned United States Senate candidate, Chris Simcox of Arizona, just filed his year-end campaign finance report with the Federal Elections Commission.

Chris Simcox is in serious financial trouble.

As of January 28, 2010, the Simcox for Senate campaign committee has only $2,684.65 cash-on-hand.

JD Hayworth’s former campaign committee spent more than that on frou-frou steak dinners.

The most recent FEC filing shows that Simcox has an obvious inability to raise money.

From October 1 – December 31, 2009, the Simcox for Senate campaign was only able to raise a net amount of $28,654.75; but, much of that total came from outside of Arizona.

Simcox’s principle campaign committee now lists over $168,000 in debts, nearly a 50% increase in red ink from the $114,000 in debts listed on his last quarterly filing, through September 30, 2009.

Don’t look for Simcox to bow out gracefully any time soon.

He’s been shunned by most Minuteman and Border Patriot affiliates, due to accusations of fiscal mismanagement and his penchant for good old-fashioned crazy talk.

One can’t imagine just what kind of gainful employment Simcox might try now, since this Senate race isn’t working out quite the way he’d planned.

McCain's once-powerful support from independents is particularly lacking; just 38 percent approved of his performance. But among Republicans, McCain retains solid support; 51 percent approved and just 14 percent disapproved

A long-term incumbent with just 51% support in his own party?!

I would just love to see the back-stabbing SOB go down. I'd get as big a thrill out of Hayworth beating McCain in the primary and I did out of Scott Brown's victory in the special.

“If you deleted all the left wing East Coast Scum who retired out here, it would be less than 20%.”

I was wondering about that. A general poll is nothing — what do the republicans think of McCainiac? That’s the question right now, and I believe you are correct.
