I remember when a real dimwit, the first woman VP candidate ever, campaigned for the demoncrats.

GOP insiders were ecstatic with her nomination. So they kept their mouths shut about "mob connections", never ridiculed her for not being able to string three or more words together into coherent sentence, and never ranted about her sonambulent speech delivery that put every audience she faced to sleep.

IOW, they knew they were dealing with a pathetic loser, so, wisely, they never made statements in the press to discourage the demoncrats from choosing her.

After the election they treated her with respect, in the long-shot (and prayerful) hope that someday she would be the candidate once again.

Therefore, the reasons for all the vile lies, slander, invective, outright sexism, and attacks on her children are very clear. It is a real-life demonstration of the meaning of the expression: "trapped like rats".

I see many posters have already responded to your post, already stating much of what I would have said.

Except for this.

Obama has speeches written by a panel of top politicians and writers, and has only to read it off a teleprompter. We have also seen what happens when his teleprompter fails. It’s like a series of ‘outtakes’ at the end of a DVD movie.

If Sarah can make a 45-minute speech that keeps the public interest, with 4-7 words scribbled on her hand, I would consider that not only a qualification for President, but a minor miracle.

It is only the DEMS/MSM who claim she used it as crib-notes for her speech. No one really knows why she put those particular words on her hand. I certainly don’t. Do you?

If ANY one of the DEMS were held to the same standards that Republicans like George Bush, or Sarah Palin have been held to... not a one of them would be in any office.

I remember that debate well. Mondale himself couldn’t keep from laughing. Even though he knew his goose was cooked.

I not only do not know why Sarah Palin wrote those words on her hand, I do not care that she did.

I guess I'm not making myself clear. I don't care if politicians use teleprompters, index cards, scripts, cue cards, notes inked on their palms, or those nifty wristbands that quarterbacks use with all the play calls on them. If it helps them to get their message across, fine by me.

All I'm saying is that with all the really, really big problems we're facing, most voters don't give a flyin' flip about teleprompters. The media is playing all sides here and over the most inconsequential things. Don't let them.

I think it's curious (and maybe a little clueless) that she did it before making a speech, which was on typed out on paper and placed on a lectern right in front of her,

You've never done any public speaking have you...???

It doesn't seem to help Obama.

Which is exactly why we are discussing it on this thread. It wouldn't even be an issue with 'us' if it weren't for the MSM and Gibbs acting like little babies and trying to convince the public that Sarah wrote on her hand for some nefarious reason. Nobody I know is buying it at all.

What the MSM and Gibbs do not get is, THE JOKE IS ON THEM.

If you can't see the story and why the tele is so front and center... you had better start paying MORE attention to your husband's guidance.

"I don't care that Palin wrote notes on her palm. I think it's curious (and maybe a little clueless) that she did it before making a speech, which was on typed out on paper and placed on a lectern right in front of her, in which she ridiculed Obama for using a teleprompter and then thought that nobody would photograph and point out that, Hey, she's got notes written on her hand!"

You say you "don't care" to give yourself permission to call Palin "clueless" in the next sentence...can we get a little more "catty" than that?

Where has it been written that she "thought nobody would photograph" and point out the hand notes. She didn't care if you saw her hand notes...public speakers always make extra notes on last minute points they have while waiting in the wings, whether they write them in the margins of the speech or in their palms, is immaterial.

Here, you write on this board and can't decide in the context of two sentences whether or not it bothered you for her to use this method, yet she was going out to speak to millions of people for 45 minutes, rarely looking down at her speech, and carried it off like a pro...maybe you should walk a mile in her shoes before you start "meowing".

Sarah is a smart woman who is out there making a difference, and the only thing you have accomplished here is to make fun of the difference she is making. And you call her "clueless".

But, those who can't always try to ridicule those who can.

It is the thinking outside the box individual is what draws the thinking Conservative to Sarah Palin.

Absolutely right! Sarah Palin's whole successful history in elected office, from town council to mayor to governor to vice presidential candidate to the present moment is her ability to think outside of the box. Washington seriously needs a "thinking out of the box" approach to cleaning out that cesspool. Palin, along with a new congress can do that, imo.

I'm beginning to think this "Alinsky" guy was a real dufus...every rule he espouses I heard on the playground in grammar school...what a dunce.

The simple rule that our Mom's taught us of "if what they say, or their laughter bothers you, don't show it, it just encourages them." totally negates that Alinsky "pearl of wisdom".

Sarah's lack of irrational anger, or even making an excuse, has rattled her opponents as Mr. Alinsky failed to list a "counteraction" to this scenario.

Who get's the last laugh? Sarah, of course. It is now the libs who are seething with anger, frustration factor 10.

Now, as to the "gravitas" argument; "gravitas" is defined as "formality in bearing and appearance".

Did Robert Gates show any "formality" in his "hand notes" joke? Nope, he came off as an inept clown.

As the most classless and clueless president ever to hold office, I really can't fit "gravitas" to the obamas either.

It's just another word that the libs will use to try to crucify Sarah Palin, when we all can she she has more decorum, class, and formality in her little finger than anything the libs have to offer.

The state-owned media and the left have lobbed everything in their arsenal at her - even to shameful extent of ridiculing her children - and nothing sticks.

Sarah is not going to play their game, because she has nothing to hide...I bet she would even show you her birth certificate.

So, let's talk gravitas (formality in bearing and appearance):
obama's crotch salute
"THIS...is gravitas?"

Photobucket
"This IS gravitas!!!"

Perhaps naive would be a better word choice than clueless, but clueless is easier for me to spell.

Also, I don't have to give myself permission for anything. I still find the Q&A palm-inking, in the context of the speech she just gave, curious. So what? I find a lot of what people do curious.
