GOP responds to Obama's Health Care Summit invite: No Thanks?
Washington Examiner ^ | 02/13/10 10:36 PM EST | By: Susan Ferrechio

House Minority Leader John Boehner, R-Ohio, issued a statement late Saturday in response to President Obama's Friday invite to a bipartisan Health Care Summit at the White House.

Boehner and other Republican leaders are complaining that the event is simply political gamesmanship and that Obama is planning to have a health care deal finalized before anyone even sits down at the meeting, which is scheduled to take place on Feb. 25.

Here's Boehner's statement:

A productive bipartisan discussion should begin with a clean sheet of paper. We now know that instead of starting the 'bipartisan' health care 'summit' on Feb. 25 with a clean sheet of paper, the president and his party intend to arrive with a new bill written behind closed doors exclusively by Democrats -- a backroom deal that will transform one-sixth of our nation's economy and affect every family and small business in America. They will then engage a largely handpicked audience in a televised 'dialogue' according to a script they have largely pre-determined. They will do this as a precursor to embarking on a legislative course that Democratic congressional aides acknowledge has also been pre-determined -- a partisan course that relies on parliamentary tricks to circumvent the will of the American people and engineer a pre-determined outcome. It doesn't sound much like bipartisanship to me.

Hell that was during the battle. We got em beat already. Claim Victory and dare em to try and pass it. Psychobabble sucks. This is like the Colts inviting the Saints to replay the Super Bowl.

Rename, repackage, rewrite it a tad smaller, and sell another pig in a poke.

Tennessee has joined several other states in trying to pass a Health Care Freedom Act. NO COLAs for granny, retired Military or retired fed employees. BIG NEW fees for Tricare for Life retired over 65 Military's secondary health ins. (DOD bill already passed, delayed but goes into effect 2011)

New Dem mantra: Woof, woof eat dog food granny....ala let them eat cake.

TRI CARE FOR LIFE This from a google search:

http://economicspolitics.blogspot.com/2009/05/tricare-for-life-is-obama-trying-to.html

This option would help reduce the costs of TFL, as well as costs for Medicare, by introducing minimum out-of pocket requirements for beneficiaries. Under this option, TFL would not cover any of the first $525 of an enrollee’s cost-sharing liabilities for calendar year 2011 and would limit coverage to 50 percent of the next $4,725 in Medicare cost sharing that the beneficiary incurred. (Because all further cost sharing would be covered by TFL, enrollees could not pay more than $2,888 in cost sharing in that year.)

Congress plans to block Tricare fee increases

By Rick Maze - Staff writer, Oct 7, 2009

Tricare fee increases imposed last week by the Defense Department will be repealed by a provision of the compromise 2010 defense authorization bill unveiled Wednesday by House and Senate negotiators.

Snip

The fee increases were announced on Sept. 30 and took effect on Oct. 1, but the defense bill, HR 2647, includes a provision barring any fee increases until the start of fiscal 2011.

Snip

Retired Army Maj. Gen. Bill Matz, president of the National Association for Uniformed Services, said the announcement of fee increases was shocking considering that the Obama administration promised earlier this year to hold off on any new fee Tricare fee increases until fiscal 2011.

“President Obama and DoD assured NAUS and the entire military family earlier this year that there would rightly be no increases in any Tricare fees” in fiscal 2010, Matz said. “We took them at their word, and I can’t believe that a co-pay increase like this was allowed to go forward,” he added.

If the President has set this up in bad faith and Boehner has evidence of these charges, this will finish Obama’s credibility forever . Having said that, these charges had better be backed up by evidence and not just contrived speculation or we lose all the gains we have made over the last year if we just walk away. Where is the proof?

I’d like to see a regular nightly ALL STAR Panel of Krauthammer Stephen Hayes and Brit Hume.

That would be like political manna from the gods.

RightOn! Pre-Conditions!
Since we are dealing with commies in the White House we ought to use their delaying tactics ( like the North Vietnamese did during the Paris Peace talks to end the Vietnam War ).
Like dragging it on for months discussing the shape of the conference table - square, crescent, oblong, round, etc.
Anything but his FullofHimself at the podium talking down to his minions.

If Obama says anything other than ‘O K’, literally get up and leave the room.

Well like the song says, they can check in, but not check out.

Congratulations, John Boehner. We here on FR have been urging you not to particpate ever since Obama extended his “invitation.” Now just stick to your guns and don’t change your mind on this.

LOL! Hopefully, we will see the clinical results of the new, longer lasting Viagra!

The DOD passed earlier, it is just postponed until 2011, it needs repealing! Or our retired Military are going to be socked with big new fees, and not COLA, more taxes from all levels of government. We are seeing it here in Tennessee, city/county and state are all wanting MORE taxes either in the form of a direct tax increase, a new tax or a fee increase or new fee on services like cable and sat tv bills.

Remember the old saying first they came for this group, then that group, now they are coming for me? Well it's first they came for the Unborn, now they are coming for granny.

Why in the heck should ANY politician be motivated to work on YOUR behalf?

LOL! NO politician has ever worked on my behalf. Aside from national defense and a court system to adjudicate our differences, they all seem to be working for special interest collectives who are against my, yours or any other individuals interest.

I'm astounded to hear these words coming out of John Boehner's mouth, the best words I've ever heard from him. If he can only take that thinking to its logical conclusion and have that view when representing the individuals of America...not the collectives...he'd be one tremendous politician.

Yep....the demos are already lining up to put this bill thru once this “meeting” is past....Gop just checkmated Bo.

The showdown at this juncture is:

Bo said he would not start over..”No”
Gop just said if not than .......”No” probably

Same move Brown took when they didn’t have a bill for him to look at...just with a different twist.

This was a great move by GoP as they really didn’t say no..tsk tsk...smooth move...
