GOP responds to Obama's Health Care Summit invite: No Thanks?
Washington Examiner ^ | 02/13/10 10:36 PM EST | By: Susan Ferrechio

House Minority Leader John Boehner, R-Ohio, issued a statement late Saturday in response to President Obama's Friday invite to a bipartisan Health Care Summit at the White House.

Boehner and other Republican leaders are complaining that the event is simply political gamesmanship and that Obama is planning to have a health care deal finalized before anyone even sits down at the meeting, which is scheduled to take place on Feb. 25.

Here's Boehner's statement:

A productive bipartisan discussion should begin with a clean sheet of paper. We now know that instead of starting the 'bipartisan' health care 'summit' on Feb. 25 with a clean sheet of paper, the president and his party intend to arrive with a new bill written behind closed doors exclusively by Democrats -- a backroom deal that will transform one-sixth of our nation's economy and affect every family and small business in America. They will then engage a largely handpicked audience in a televised 'dialogue' according to a script they have largely pre-determined. They will do this as a precursor to embarking on a legislative course that Democratic congressional aides acknowledge has also been pre-determined -- a partisan course that relies on parliamentary tricks to circumvent the will of the American people and engineer a pre-determined outcome. It doesn't sound much like bipartisanship to me.

These Liberal traitors still think the American people are clueless and believe their BS. We The People are taking care of business. Three states so far and more to come.

dont congratulate them until thery actually do something- like send only token reps to this show meeting.

Unfortunately I predict the “party of civility and collegiality” led by Juan McCain and Chinless McConnell, will repeat its mistake of January and go let themselves
(AND US) be lectured to about fixing the “mistakes” of the past decade - and more whining about what obama “inherited”

and then the GOP like sheep will politely applaud the entire charade and thank and praise obama for giving them an opportunity to participate in faux democracy.

Ping and double ping. Been burned too many times to believe what RINOs say. I’ll delay my yippee to see what Boehner actually does.

You’re right. The Republicans have the clout and they have to demand a clean start. Obama wants to pretend the election in MA never took place, but the GOP can’t back down on their demand for a clean start. They have the public on their side and every democrat up for reelection is fully aware of that fact.

Why in the heck should ANY politician be motivated to work on YOUR behalf?

You are an ungrateful person, clueless as to how important it is to support our friends and punish our enemies.

When you punish EVERYONE?

It does not help the cause.

Way to go, Boehner. I saw that Obama did not really invite Republicans. He had a specific list of Senators and Congressman invited - included more Democrats than Republicans - and failed to include either of the Republican doctors in the Senate, the ones who really might have some knowledge about the delivery of health care and the challenges involved. What a farce! Anything with an individual mandate or even one additional government agency is a no starter for me.

Presser OUTSIDE the building where the “summit” was going to occur saying No Mas, we are NOT going against the will of the majority of the American People AND the Constitution! This is the ONLY way to talk over the Sycophantists

I try to never, ever miss the panel. I watch it just to see Charles, although I have also taken a liking to Steve Hayes too, (and he’s easy on the eyes). Sorry, I had to add that...lol.

Is this from the GOP? They’re actually standing up to this thug, good fo Boehner and the boys!

This is pretty amazing. Imagine how fine things might be if the GOP had done this in the mid-1990's.

Blair House...thanks
It is still an obvious ruse to make this rigged process seem transparent because all of a sudden you can see it on TV

Obviously Obama has been stung by accusations that he is a damn liar when it comes to transparency. That he says it but doesn’t mean it. Many times (all on video) this liar proclaimed that crafting the health care bill would be a transparent process that would be televised. He lied and did nothing said nothing to Pelosi etc to open up the process. The opposite was done with shady backroom deals for Nebraska, Louisiana, Florida, union workers, etc ad nauseum

Is that right?

He invited certain senators?

He excluded Doctor Senator's Coburn and Barrasso?

Do you know where we can find that list?

Charles Krauthammer seems to hit all the home runs on Special Report and Inside Washington.

We find ourselves watching and waiting in anticipation of the next ‘bomb’ he will drop on democrats for their latest failure and decline in popularity.
