HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) - The wife of the late congressman John Murtha is being urged to run for the House seat that he held for nearly four decades, a newspaper reported Friday.

"While people have been mindful that this is a difficult time for the family, many have called to suggest Joyce as the perfect person to hold her husband's seat," Murtha spokesman Matthew Mazonkey told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.

You're talking about a part of the country which continually re-elected the same crook to Congress since 1974.

I believe in being respectful of the family of the deceased, but...if she is going to jump into the ring (why she would be qualified is anyone’s guess) then she better be prepared to answer.

You don’t know why his wife is qualified? Well, it is HIS seat, silly. It is Murtha’s seat, just like it was Kennedy’s seat. Liberals elect their royalty to life terms. Makes for great Tyrants.

So who better to put in MURTHA’s seat than Murtha’s wife?

Its called the Widow Sympathy Vote. And the Democrats may be able to keep the seat with it.

Well, Murtha wasn't qualified when HE ran so why not his wife to replace him, eh?

After all, who cares about country issues when one is a democrat or a RINO.

Sympathy, name recognition, likelihood the spouse is of the same party, access to (re-)election funds, and knowing where the skeletons are.... though none are really the qualifications that we know SHOULD exist.

Well, after 40 years of pillow talk, I'm sure Mrs. Murtha is highly qualified to run his corrupt office.

She knows where the bodies are buried, who's clean, who'd dirty, who's they can count on and most importantly where the money is.

In the corrupt world of "rat" politics, she's highly qualified.

Oh for God’s sake....take it from a MO Freeper......IT DOESN’T make them qualified. We had Carnahan’s wife to deal with and Bill Emerson’s..(still serving)wife. Bill Emerson was Conservative and his wife, JoAnn, since married to a trial lawyer, has taken a hard turn left. Carnahan was installed under nefarious circumstances when her husband, Mel, was killed 3 weeks prior to the election (senate). Carnahan, was still on the ballot and won over John Ashcroft (48K votes) and she was installed. It’s a ploy by the libtards because wives are easily manipulated.

It’s a disgusting and unconstitutional precedent (imo).
