Timeline shows Bush, McCain warning Dems of financial and housing crisis; meltdown

The Bush Admin and Senator McCain warned repeatedly about Fanny Mae and Freddy Mac and what thus became the 2008 financial crisis -- starting in 2002 (and actually even earlier -- in the Clinton and Carter White Houses. Democrats resisted and kept to their party line, extending loans to people who couldn't afford them -- just like you would expect of socialists.

I told FrogDad that when BO was elected. I believe that President Bush was an honorable man (flame me if you must), but he should have had a designated talking head to be on every show every week to refute the BAZILLION lies they were telling. Video, audio, slides, briefings, anything to show the putrescence that was/is the democrat party.

The myth that Bush's not defending himself gave us Obama is unsupportable by the facts.

Obama was an American Idol candidate who had a slobbering, lying, covering up media.
McCain was a terrible candidate, and along with Obama was campaigning against Bush
There was an overload of white guilt.
Obama got millions of illegal overseas dollars.
The economic meltdown blamed on Bush was, in fact, a Democrat meltdown

And that's just for starters.

Bush's 'not defending himself' was due to his principles regarding the presidency and his having the priority of doing his job and not dealing with his critics.

You can fault him for that as much as you want, but it was not the reason we got Obama.

I agree that Bush is an honorable man. To a fault even. I agree, he should have had someone in there to defend him. I say he gave us Obama because he let the lie stand that he was responsible for the economic meltdown and I think that was key in Obama getting elected coming so soon before the election. Harry Reid started calling for McCain to come back to Washington and after that McCains poll numbers sunk and never came back. I think that was all planned.

And McCain should have said something about this every 20 minutes during his campaign — but said nothing. Imbecile.

Agreed. Someone should have said something during the campaign.

And if President Bush had said, "It's not my fault" and gone on to explain exactly what happened (as STARWISE has posted upthread), do you really think that the American people, filled with leftist lying media-induced "Bush fatigue" would have voted for John McCain instead of the flawless god-like Obama?

Not a chance.

The Soros funded left knew that there would be no way anyone would blame anyone else but Bush for the meltdown because they had primed the pump with 8 years of lies. (And they gave zero the words to say to make the ill-informed Americans think that he could solve what Bush messed up). In that, it was definitely planned.

I repeat.....blaming President Bush's lack of self-defense for Obama's election cannot be supported by the overwhelming facts to the contrary.

You are right about some of it. I am simply saying if Bush had a War Room set up like Clinton did to shoot down the lies as soon as they were told, there wouldn’t have been Bush fatigue. If the American people saw the truth as soon as the media told the lies, things wouldn’t have gone as far as they did. Bush let the left and the media define him.

“Pro-life, strong on National Security, impeccable record on judges and SC justices, strong military, stood up against the UN and World Court, strong 2nd amendment, cut taxes and never backed off - NOT a “RINO” even with the spending.”

(1) He did little for it and comes from a family only recently “pro-life”.
(2) He wasn’t strong on national security at all.
(3) Hardly an impeccable record when he called people names for wanting someone like Alito instead of his personal lawyer.
(4) Worn out military with back-to-back-to-back deployments and cut procurement to build gimmies overseas.
(5) He wasn’t strong on the 2nd Amendment. He said he’s sign a new AWB bill and never rolled back any anti-gun EOs.
(6) His tax cuts are expiring.
(7) He never backed off advancing the Democrat agenda.

Bush was a liberal, globalist, politician from a family of liberal politicians who think they have some right to rule and consider themselves in the same class as the Kennedys. I don’t know why people like you fixate on the man, but he did NOT show integrity or honor in office. He violated his oath.

If he isn’t a RINO, then the Republican Party needs to be buried behind the woodshed and replaced with something at least pro-American.

“If Bush was a RINO because of his immigration policy, then so was Reagan, and if Reagan is a RINO, there are no Republicans who aren’t.”

Reagan’s mistake was in believing the security provisions in that bill would be enforced.

GWB never had any interest in defending the border and prefers Mexicans to Americans. His amnesty plan was game- and country changing.

THANK YOU FOR SETTING THE RECORD STRAIGHT. Those with a brain will read it and learn; those with an AGENDA will read it and scoff. The latter group is MUCH more interested in promoting a pseudo-con, neo-libertarian, conspiracy-oriented Third Party than the truth!

“Agreed. Someone should have said something during the campaign.”

McCain wanted Obama to win. Just like Dole wanted Clinton to win.

“Very few Presidents have stood stronger in the face of adversity that President Bush did.”

He praised the enemy and wanted more of their number here. Is that what you call “standing strong”?

McCain and the Republican Party demanded that President Bush remain silent during the entirety of 2008. . . They got what they wanted . . . If they wanted something else (a defense) then they should have mounted one!!

BTW: If President Bush shouted in the woods (i.e., gave a national speech(es)) and no one was around to hear it (i.e., the MSM refused to air more than negatively framed sound bites) did the shout actually occur?
