In many countries, President's Day is celebrated by throwing all living Presidents into a giant pit and rewarding the first one to emerge with the coveted title of "Greatest President Ever."
Actually, that's completely made up, but it would be kinda cool.
Anyway, in lieu of being able to offer a Commander in Chief death match, we would like to celebrate this holiday Monday by allowing you to exercise your democratic right to vote on which of our Presidents was the biggest badass.

Teddy Roosevelt -- spoke softly and carried a big stick 462 (50.2%)
John F. Kennedy -- liked to stick it to the ladies 109 (11.8%)
George Washington -- probably invented the stick 163 (17.7%)

After the battle for New Orleans, Jackson was known as the second Geo. Washington. He was a rock star in his time.
Perhaps you all know something I don’t, but other than Washington and Lincoln, my next choice would be Dwight D. Eisenhower.
Reagan. His stand and lonely war against communism were unflinching. His stand in Iceland against the deal Gorby wanted. He could trim brush and ride horses too but his fight against communism was more manly than Teddy R or any others.
Also George Washington.

Yes. Agreeing to be General for the losing side, then rallying defeated troops to defeat a superior enemy, then agreeing to be President and willingly stepping down to set a good example.
Andrew Jackson was the most successful duelist of his time, fighting 20 of them. You could not insult his wife without putting your life in SERIOUS danger. In the war of 1812, his troops ran out of money and were going to home. With his arm in a sling (from a dueling injury) he propped his rifle up on a stick and threatened to shoot the first man to leave. Him versus 500 rebellious troops.
Teddy Roosevelt completed two terms by the time he was 50. He regretted giving up the Presidency to Taft and ran against him in 1912. He was shot by by assassin during the campaign and then gave a campaign speech with a bullet in him.
Ronald Reagan was ridiculed both terms as an incompetent actor. He had simple goals: defeat Communism and revive America. No one believed it could be done. He did it.
But if I recall correctly, JFK was on drugs (was it a type of steroid hormone?) for his medical condition which unnaturally raised his testosterone.
Washington had stones the size of boulders, which was apparent clear back to when he was a 21-year old colonel confronting the French and their indians in the backcountry.

lol .... Gotta love Andrew Jackson! He also lead wars against Seminoles and other Indians. He had a long military record going back to the Revolutionary War

Washington took the biggest risk out of those listed.
I have a deep dislike for Jackson. He started the trend of the US abandoning treaties (with Native Americans).

Obama still has a lot of work to catch up with Buchanan in the 'least manly' race. Buchanan was an open "dandy" whose 'friend' William King lived with him at the White House. Jackson called Buchanan and King "Mrs Nancy and Aunt Fancy". Aaron Brown referred to them as married "Buchanan and his wife".
With regards to simply being ‘manly’, it’s hard to top Teddy.
Checking Teddy Roosevelt’s resume is like reading a How-To guide on butt-kicking manliness. He was a cattle rancher, a deputy sheriff, an explorer, a police commissioner, the assistant Secretary of the Navy, the governor of New York, and a war hero. In 1898, Roosevelt formed the first U.S. Volunteer Cavalry Regiment, known as the Rough Riders. Most people already know of the Rough Riders and their historic charge up San Juan Hill, but few know that, since their horses had to be left behind, the Riders made this charge entirely on foot.
Also, Roosevelt did NOT lose his obsession with violence when he became president. He strolled through the White House with a pistol on his person at all times, though, with his black belt in jujitsu and his history as a champion boxer, it wasn’t like he really needed it.
It wasn’t just his war record or the fact that he knew several different ways to kill you that made Roosevelt manly. It wasn’t even the fact that he kept a bear and a lion at the White House as pets, (though that certainly helps). Consider this: Roosevelt received letters from army cavalrymen complaining about having to ride 25 miles a day for training and, in response, Teddy rode horseback for 100 miles, from sunrise to sunset, at 51 years old, effectively rescinding anyone’s right to complain about anything, ever again.
Did I mention he had asthma growing up?
While campaigning for a third term, Roosevelt was shot by a madman and, instead of treating the wound, delivered his campaign speech with the bleeding, undressed bullet hole in his chest.
This quote actually comes from fellow politician Woodrow Wilson at the time of Roosevelt’s death: “Death had to take him sleeping, for if Roosevelt had been awake there would have been a fight.”
Like I said: hard to top that.

And the progressive intellectual Woodrow Wilson is in that list.
Eisenhower was a very respectable and admirable character, but few people realize that he never saw actual combat during his military career.
