In many countries, President's Day is celebrated by throwing all living Presidents into a giant pit and rewarding the first one to emerge with the coveted title of "Greatest President Ever."
Actually, that's completely made up, but it would be kinda cool.
Anyway, in lieu of being able to offer a Commander in Chief death match, we would like to celebrate this holiday Monday by allowing you to exercise your democratic right to vote on which of our Presidents was the biggest badass.

with honorable mentions for
Lincoln
Grant
Truman
Bush senior
Grant wasn't a good president. But he was a good general and a man. Bush senior had his failings domestically. But he was a brave pilot and a brave wartime leader. Truman had some serious political issues with leftists in his camp. But he was a tough as nails old artillery colonel who fought in WW I, and he launched the cold war bravely. Lincoln was brave enough and principled enough, but never a fighting man himself (to speak of).
Ike led troops in battle to put Teddy to shame. So did Washington. Jackson I'd say only comparable on that score, but he took care of himself in an age of duels in ways that would make Teddy blush. Reagan was never a warrior, but made up for it winning the cold war.
This is a wonderful thread.
All it needs is for somebody to post that picture of BO with his bike helmet next to the picture of TR dressed for the hunt.
(yeah, I know, I should do it myself, but I can barely punch out a verbal post)
What about Ford, he was in the NFL.
I believe he played for those filthy Wolverines from Ann Arbor.
I can't get the ilike.com url to hot link.
Teddy Rooselvelt once spotted a bunch of sharks from his ship in Cuba...and dived in among them.
MAN that picture tell us everything from TWO Manly president to wuss we have NOW
When I was a kid, our Roman Catholic nun teacher asked us a question at the end of an exam concerning President’s that if gotten correctly would boost our score by one full letter grade.
Q: Who was the greatest President in US history
George Washington. He walked the walk.
True. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Buchanan
He was pretty much a flop and among the worst Presidents
There was History Channel special on Teddy Roosevelt few years back they mention that
Ol’ Rough n’ Ready deserves a mention.
My list:
George Washington
Andrew Jackson
Zachary Taylor
Ulysses S. Grant
Teddy Roosevelt
Hon. Mention, WH Harrison.
Least Manly
James Buchanan
Barack Obama
Jimmy Carter
Woodrow Wilson
Milliard Fillmore
JFK was also a PT boat commander, and from what I understand not easy duty. And definitely not a swiftboat.
“Mexican General Antonio López de Santa Anna discovered that Taylor had only 6,000 men, through a letter written by Scott to Taylor that had been intercepted by the Mexicans, many of whom were not regular army soldiers, and resolved to defeat him. Santa Anna attacked Taylor with 20,000 men at the Battle of Buena Vista in February 1847, inflicting 672 American casualties at a cost of 1,800 Mexican. As a result, Santa Anna left the field of battle.”
As great as TR was I don’t think he can hold a candle to Taylor.
In this particular list it would have to be George Wasington.
it would probably be GW in any list.
“Harry Truman: I disliked a number of his policies, but Harry was a stand up guy and plenty tough.”
WWI vet also I believe.
“Thanks for the history lesson”
Here’s another one.

Your unmanly Presidents has three progressives
Your manly Presidents were all military commanders
I was mistaken, he never played in the NFL but was offered NFL contracts which he declined. He did play against the Chicago Bears during an exhibition. He did play for the Wolverines. I went to Minnesota myself.
