Joe the Plumber: I can’t support Palin if she supports McCain
Hot Air ^ | FEBRUARY 15, 2010 | ALLAHPUNDIT

Where does this fit in the great hierarchy of authenticity politics? Sarahcuda may be the most salt-of-the-earth pol on the American landscape but she’s also an internationally famous celebrity and multimillionaire. Surely a blue-collar Joe who’s been known to fix toilets outranks her. Does that mean she’s now been formally excommunicated from the church of “true conservatism” — as I suspected — or did yesterday’s NASCAR appearance imbue her with some sort of impregnable authenticity forcefield?

More importantly, does this mean Meggie Mac was right?

Wurzelbacher touched on several different points during his speech, and many of them were surprising. He said he doesn’t support Sarah Palin anymore. Why? Because she’s backing John McCain’s re-election effort. “John McCain is no public servant,” he told the room, calling the 2008 Republican nominee a career politician.

Agreed. How could she reject him after he vaulted her into the public eye? Joe needs to rein it in on this one, though I generally like him.

I don’t agree with Palin supporting McCain but good grief -what does one expect as McCain picked her as his VP pick? That decision by Palin should be the least of Joe the Plumber’s concerns given everything else we face. What a schmuck.

That’s dumb. In her heart, she’s not supporting him. If Joe can’t see the reality of the situation and the political chess that she has to play, then it’s just take his ball and go home. Immature.

The reality of the situation? Like, oh say, Sarah supporting McCain? That reality? It is what it is. If you want to call it chess, do so. Does not change the fact that right now, she SUPPORTS McCain. So, she either really does, or she just got politically owned and has to support McCain. Either way, loss.

no way you can campaign for McCain against Hayworth no matter how much it’s about loyalty.. she should just stay out of that race... that’s all the loyalty progressive McCain deserves

integrity and seriousness of the cause must prevent it.. if she does then she’s actively campaigning for the enemy of the very mission we are on here.. McCain’s penchant to stab real conservatives in the back and his distain for christian conservatives is well known

"He said she was not qualified."

Well... she isn't. I suppose she meets the Constitutional requirements. Other than that, she was a governor for less than a term, and that's about it. Of course, she's more qualified than Hussein was, but I'd hate to imagine using him as a benchmark for being 'qualified'. Her needing $100k for speaking at a "tea party" convention was the last straw as far as I'm concerned.

Sarah’s support for McCain is obligatory and correct. For her to do otherwise would be wrong.

If I recall, Bush and Santorum took a lot of heat for campaigning and supporting Specter out of "loyalty", so she needs to take her lumps like everyone else for backing someone who is clearly not a conservative and who pushes tripe like amnesty and global warming.

Anyone who dumps Sarah because of her supporting McCain wasn’t much of a Sarah supporter anyway. And of course, Allahpundit’s hatred of Sarah is well-known.

Sarah would appear to be a backstabber if she failed to support McCain. Voters must take her endorsement with a grain of salt, and they will. Bob

I think it’s good that she gets a “shot across the bow”. He’s a person she will take notice of, as opposed to me posting something to her facebook page.

Although a lot of conservatives will cut her some slack with this as long as she doesn’t trash JD (myself included), there is a big percentage of them that won’t.

Palin will still support Juan. Then Juan will throw her under the buss again. And Palin will be back to take another for “The Team”.

Backnone? No, more like a cry baby b!tch who can't accept personal responsibility for the choices HE made. You're only used if you let yourself be used.

You know. The more I think about it, the more I am convinced that the conservative cause has been advanced far more under the Obama administration than it would have been under a McCain presidency.

Sometime in the future, a group of Republicans will tell the American people that Social Security and Medicare will have to be cut significantly in order for the Republic to survive economically. Until that moment of utter truth, Republicans will be nibblers if not weasels, I’m sorry. Sarah Palin, bless her heart, is correct on a lot of social issues. But she is a marginal, interim figure at most.
