(AP)Vice President Joe Biden appeared at an event marking the one-year anniversary of the economic stimulus package today with a noticeable black smidge on his forehead.
For many the mark was immediately recognizable as the ashes given to Catholics on Ash Wednesday, the first day of Lent. Biden, America's first Catholic vice president, also received ashes, which are meant to symbolize repentance and serve as a reminder of human mortality, last year.
On Wednesday morning, President Obama issued a statement commemorating Ash Wednesday, saying he and First Lady Michelle Obama "mark this solemn day of repentance and promise, knowing that Lent is a time for millions to renew faith and also deepen a commitment to loving and serving one another."
America has had one Catholic president, John F. Kennedy, but he was reportedly never photographed with ashes on his forehead.

Went to church all his life, saw people turn to Christ and be saved, but as far as we know never ever bothered to do that personally, himself. Not an envyable position.

I’ve never seen ashes that dark. It’s not even in the shape of a cross. Looks more like dark eye shadow.
The Democrat politicians and the Democrat party win the Catholic vote, so whatever we think here, they know what they are doing.
The Obama/Biden ticket won 56% of the Catholic vote, they clearly have a relationship with Catholics that we are not seeing, or recognizing.
Or are they the ashes of the unborn and born babies left to die in the abortuaries that he so dearly champions?

So? Does that make JFK something special???? He did a lot of other things too. On and off camera. This has nothing to do with JFK. bidin wore his ashes with pride as he should have. Those who don’t like it can go you know where. That said...I’m not a bidin fan by no means but he is a Christian and so am I and that is our right and our religion. We’re not asking anyone else to join. Just to mind their own business and do whatever they do in their faith. Who cares? As long as it is what you believe and you feel peace and comfort...it’s not the business of any of the noisybodies out there.

I don't know that there is any special relationship aside from the historical congruence between Roman Catholicism and the Democrat party.
More, it is a matter today that the hierarchy of the Catholic Church, ALLOWS these people to be cafeteria Catholics.
Hence, Biden, in addition to receiving Communion, can continually state the lie that his political beliefs and actions, are in line with his “Catholic” faith

The Obama/Biden ticket won 56% of the Catholic voters based on the same election data that we have used all our lives and will use next election and the election after that.
The point your missing is that Biden doesn’t believe in the teachings of the Church. The public display of the ashes was for show only.
