Setting the climate record straight (IPCC co-chair "discusses recent criticisms.")
Nature News ^ | 17 February 2010 | Jeff Tollefson

A co-chair of the IPCC's beleaguered second working group discusses recent criticisms.

Climate researcher Martin Parry at Imperial College London co-chaired the second working group of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) — the group charged with assessing the effects climate change is likely to have and how these might be mitigated — for the IPCC's fourth assessment. During the past month, the IPCC has corrected an error about the amount of melting anticipated for the Himalayan glaciers and defended its estimates of the financial costs of damage caused by natural disasters. Nature talks to Parry, who has been busy juggling...

--snip--

Why do you think all of these accusations are bubbling up now?

There probably has been something of a sceptical wave regarding climate change, and I think we're possibly caught up in that. Which is unfortunate, because I fear it leads the public to a view that climate science may be less reliable than it really is.

I think the IPCC should be open to any scrutiny and should respond by clarifying any queries. Now, that clarification can take time. Science can't shoot from the hip, and it's not about making statements to meet 24-hour news time lines.

There has been some criticism of the IPCC, and of Chairman Rajendra Pachauri in particular, for the way in which the affair has been handled.

The IPCC is not like a political party with a manifesto that it's preaching and a rapid-rebuttal office. But the IPCC will need to decide whether it is in the business of simply undertaking its five-year assessments or being the source of information and being able to respond, on an ongoing basis, to enquiries.

And Pachauri?

Yes, I certainly have confidence in Dr Pachauri as chairman of the IPCC, and in the IPCC itself.

Nature, along with Science, has been thumping the tub for AGW for years. Now they're trying to keep the roof from falling in.

Nature is a partner in crime with these scamsters, all they do is give a softball interview to one of these IPCC stooges.

They’ve already destroyed their credibility because of their alliance with this hoax, stay on that road to Damascus until you see the light.

I hope that when the Republicans take control of Congress, that they hold hearings, not on environmental theories, but on exposing who and what these groups are.
From what I have found throughout the years, first and foremost these groups are ran by lawyers or old hippies who thanks to their followers lead quite a good lifestyle and have gotten very wealthy. Second are the groups who are basically commies in disguised. Their are no third type. They use scare tactics, lawsuits, and donations from stupid mentally ill liberals to fund their activities and lifestyles at the expense of the rest of us, right down to free air time in the form of PSAs.

“In searching for a new enemy to unite us, we came up with the idea that pollution, the threat of global warming, water shortages, famine and the like would fit the bill. The real enemy [of the elites and their minions] then is humanity itself.”

- “The First Global Revolution” (1991) published by the Club of Rome.

Dr. Pachauri is a member of The Club of Rome which is working to establish a world government (presumably Communist in nature). A search will reveal some interesting stuff.

They still send me magazines and renewal notices. Bite me lefties, it’s a dumb magazine and a waste of trees.

Here is the problem, its called incest:

“The authors are firstly chosen because of their experience and international stature. Secondly, they are appraised of the nature of the IPCC assessment, so the authors have a set of standards that they should follow.”

I fear it leads the public to a view that climate science may be less reliable than it really is

That would be impossible. To appear less reliable that it really is, I mean.

Good photos on your profile page. In ‘Nam, I happened to observe a time-on-target fire mission using VT fused rounds from a relatively short distance and it was impressive - it must have been devastating for anyone in the impact area.
