>> I warned everyone here about Fred Thompson a long time ago, and mainly all it got me was abuse. <<

True. It's a waste of time to discuss Fred's shortcomings with the holier-than-thou diehard Fredheads on FR, they just ignore anytime he does something wrong. During the Scozzafava-Hoffman race, they were here on in droves to gloat about how Fred is soooooo much better than all the other big-name Republicans in America (Eric Cantor, Tim Pawlenty, etc., etc.) because Fred endorsed the conservative underdog. As I said at the time, it's great that Fred ended up on the right side during a primary campaign for ONCE, but being on the right side this time doesn't excuse him endorsing RINOs in a bunch of other races. Let's see if he turns over a new leaf.

Well sadly it appears to have been a one-time thing. Rick Santorum was also one of the "prominent early supporters" of Doug Hoffman. but I didn't see ANY freeper proclaim what a great guy Rick was for doing that and ignore the fact Rick had a history of endorsing Specter and other RINOs as Fred Thompson was given a pass for (Fred was a cheerleader for socialist Linc Chafeee in the 2006 Senate primary which IMO is worse than a Specter primary endorsement).

Likewise, Huckabee endorsed Rubio over Crist in Florida but you don't see anyone here use that good move of Huckabee part to gloat about it and ignore what he had done wrong in the past, or talk about how great Huck was for endorsing a conservative underdog when other Republicans wouldn't.

There is a big segment of FR that puts Fred on a pedestal and simply cannot admit to this day that he has serious flaws just like the rest of the "major candidates" in the 2008 GOP primary.

Hunter may have had little chance of winning the 2008 GOP primary for president, but it's clear he was the better conservative of the two, and Fred was way too cozy with the GOP establishment and with RINOs -- something alot of holier-than-thous freepers who claim Fred was Reagan reincarnated and everyone else was a "socialist", including Fred's buddy McCain -- will never bring themselves to admit. Fred and John Thune are two guys who CONSTANTLY sucked up to McCain in the Senate and got a complete pass from FR while Lindsey Graham gets crucified for doing exactly what Fred did in the Senate (voting in favor of amnesty, fawning over McCain, helping RINOs win primaries, etc.).

And I consider this endorsement worse than Sarah Palin's unofficial endorsement of McCain, considering the fact that McCain did nothing for Fred. Fred is a retired U.S. Senator and could just have easily said nothing about the primary race in Arizona and no one would have noticed. Vocally endorsing McCain early on looks bad, IMO.

I only heard JD on Marks show. Hannity will not go near him.

JD was on Savage's show the day before.

Nonsense. Hayworth is solid on the 2A, McCain is wobbly

Hayworth despised Mccain-Feingold-Thompson

Hayworth was fully supportive of Bush’s critical tax cuts, Mccain voted against both.

Hayworth was against $800 BILLION Tarp, McCain stopped his campaign to promote it.

Hayworth has been solidly pro-life, Mccain has been wobbly.

Hayworth calls global warming a hoax, Mccain is the GOP’s # promoter of Cap and Tax.

Hayworth has been a ardent foe of the commies in the EPA, McCain has accomodated them.

Hayworth is a drill baby drill guy, McCain foolishly calls ANWR another treasure like the Grand Canyon.

Hayworth did not stab Don Rumsfeld in the back, McCain did every week.

Hayworth has a lifetime 98 ACU rating, Mccain about 80.

Hayworth attacks the criminals at ACORN and La Raza, McCain fetes them.

I could go on and on.

I am with you there! Fresh faces have a big appeal to the independents. In my book, they will also give Washington DC a disinfectant quality.

Unsurprising, I suppose, but...blech. JD doesn’t appear to have a great record on spending, but from what I’ve seen, better him than McCain.

I was complaining that we need fresh faces, so I was pointing out that I understood McCain had been there forever, in case somebody would think that wasn’t common knowledge and might try calling me names.

That was rank crap that McCain was pulling on Rumsfeld.

Hayworth was smart enough to see the TARP as a gigantic waste of money. McCain, Boner, Pencil neck Cantor and the rest of the girly men in the GOP shoved it down America’s throat.

To this day, I only give DeMint and Hunter credit for trying to kill TARP while offering up market based solutions for the crisis.

Big surprise! Fred is the biggest reason McCain got the nomination in the first place. He got out there and played the conservative part to water down the field of actual conservatives. Then the media could cover Fred, Rudy, Huck, Mitt and make us think we actually had a choice. Worked like a charm. These people sit back and laugh at those they dupe.

“WHAT THE HELL!!?? Jesus...this is going to be ugly.”

Other than a presidential race, this is the most important one facing us. It’s not just about Arizona. It’s about the entire balance of power in congress. McCain knows it. That’s why they’re playing dirty so soon. They started taking J.D. out before he even decided to run.

Ugly, indeed.

IMO, this is where we’re headed if we don’t get rid of John McCain.

Fred didn’t want to stay in the Senate to listen to McPain, but he recommends continued pain for the country and AZ. I am sure AZ voters are listening and will stick with the pain they have inflicted on the nation for so long.

Has Santorum endorsed Specter for 2010? He should to be consistent.

I don’t know how Hayworth became the 2nd coming of Reagan for this group.

You also made this ridiculous unsupportable statement. It looks for all the world like an attempt to marginalize JD's supporters while minimizing McCain's negatives with a statement so milquetoast that it makes him seem normal in comparison to the former.

Fred's endorsed Rob Simmons in the Conn. U.S. Senate primary too -- and Simmon's is another backstabbing RINO who's even well to the left of McCain. Hopefully Fred's endorsement in that Senate race has as much weight as his efforts in AZ.

If any other nationally known Republican figure (George W. Bush, Romney, Huckabee, etc.) endorsed McCain or Simmons, you'd see about 800 posts on this thread from Fredheads screaming "RINO, RINO, RINO" at them. Hell as someone else noted, even Palin's expected endorsement of McCain drew about 300 replies bashing her. But of course in this case, it's the great Fred Thompson, so all is forgiven.

Well, guess it is time to take the “Don’t blame me, I voted for Fred” bumper sticker off my car...maybe put a “Miss Me Yet” one in its place.
