Arawaks were peaceful. And they were a favorite food of the Carib Indians who were cannibals, and, in fact, the origin of that term.

Arawaks were about to die out. They were the major food source for the Canab(Carib)indians, from which we get the word “Cannibals”.
Colombus recorded how his men found a Canab camp with captive pregnant Arawak women in cages. The Canabs considered newborn Awarak babies a delicacy. Yummy!
