Taser International Inc. received its first large order for its new X3 stun gun, with the devices slated to head to Florida. The Lakeland Police Department ordered 150 of the devices, which are capable of stunning three people from the same device compared to the Scottsdale companys earlier models that are single-shot devices.
It represents the largest single order for the devices that debuted last summer, said Steve Tuttle, the companys vice president of communications. Weve had others go out, particular for field studies, but nothing this large, he said. Lakeland is a long-time customer of Taser (Nasdaq:TASR). The department has a mix of the older M26 models along with the X26 models. The X3 provides the user with three shots for different targets with the ability alternate the charge between its three probes.
Taser has seen interest in the new product, but much it has been as departments are studying a handful of the devices to see how they handle wear and tear, Tuttle said. The company did not release financial terms of the deal, but the devices are expected to ship in the first quarter.
Now they can give you a heart attack 3 times as fast.
lol.
No other agencies making new orders?
I bet their in-call ordering just had a sudden upswing today.
What kind of crime they are arming to fight this way?
Just make our own gadgets that output high AC at 60Hz. ;-)
The perp was hiding under a porch and was found by a K-9. The perp kicked the dog and refused to come out so the deputy hit him with the taser. One of the darts hit the target in the testicles....justice served.
LOL yourself. Personally, I think they should cut all this middleman crap and just hitch an electric chair to the patrol car's tow hitch. Enough of this mouthing off from "the people." Bunch a rabble that don't know their places.
Hey! Good idea. {/s}
