Obama to Offer Health Bill to Ease Impasse (use reconciliation) as Bipartisan Meeting Approaches
New York Times ^ | February 18, 2010 | David M. Herszenhorn and Robert Pear

President Obama will put forward comprehensive health care legislation intended to bridge differences between Senate and House Democrats ahead of a summit meeting with Republicans next week, senior administration officials and Congressional aides said Thursday.

Democratic officials said the president’s proposal was being written so that it could be attached to a budget bill as a way of averting a Republican filibuster in the Senate. The procedure, known as budget reconciliation, would let Democrats advance the bill with a simple majority rather than a 60-vote supermajority.

Congressional Democrats, however, have not yet seen the proposal or signed on.

The House and the Senate each adopted a version of sweeping health care legislation late last year. But efforts to combine the measures stalled after a Republican, Scott Brown, won a special Senate election in Massachusetts on Jan. 19, effectively stripping the Democrats of the 60th vote they needed to overcome Republican filibusters.

“It will be a reconciliation bill,” one Democratic aide said. “If Republicans don’t come with any substantial offers, this is what we would do.”

Officials said that the White House would post the president’s plan on the Internet by Monday morning. But even as Mr. Obama tries to unite his party behind a single plan, it is unclear that Democrats can muster the needed votes in the House and the Senate given the tense political climate of a midterm election year.

During a conference call on Wednesday night, the House speaker, Nancy Pelosi, told the White House chief of staff, Rahm Emanuel, and the Senate majority leader, Harry Reid, that she could not agree to a proposal until rank-and-file lawmakers returned from a weeklong recess. A House Democratic caucus meeting is set for Monday evening.

To "ease the impasse" before a "bipartisan meeting" Obama is preparing to twist the rules of the Senate to ram through a bill on a party-line vote where he does not need the votes of all the Democrats, much less any Republicans.

Another manipulative ploy by the Socialist deceiver.

Reports now surfacing indicate that Obama was a dedicated Communist in college. Nothing has changed.

He’s still going to need the support of 100 blue dogs in the House with cold paws. “Suuuuure, we believe that you’re going to immediately amend this albatross to take out the pro-abort stuff. And we have a bridge in Brooklyn to sell you.”

The Obamarat is in a corner.

Just think, public healthcare has been the left’s holy grail for the last hundred years or so. For them it represents the ultimate moral good. But here they are, having to sneak it through by attaching it to a spending bill. How shabby. It’s just like how FDR had to bully the Supreme Court to get his New Deal through. I think it’s telling how these wonderful progressive things always have to be shystered into place in the dirtiest of ways.

I think they will somehow jam this through.

We can never underestimate Evil, and the lengths it will go to.

The other day, FOX News was talking about Rosie O'Donnell and Janeane Garofalo. The commentator said these hard lefities believe "Conservatives just don't have bad ideas, but they are evil.

Evil exists, but it cannot be defined except through the lens of Almighty God. If it could be, they any wicked, horrible human act could be defined as "good" and wonderful, compassionate acts could be defined as "evil." That is just what the left and Democrats do.

But, God is still here.

"Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!"

Isaiah 5:20

We must remember, Democrats and Liberals think this is "good."

Evil will only be defeated if we ask God to fight for us, and to bless us. We must do this in humility, and in gratitude.

Forget about the gratitude part. He will get none from me until this world ends.

I expect evil to completely triumph over the world and then see everyone standing around wondering why God won’t come already. Pretty soon there won’t be anything good left in the world. The left will soon have replaced everything with lust, greed, pride, and perversion.

If the dictator forces this bill upon us then we will need to start bringing arms to the doctor’s office just in case they plan to eliminate the “life unworthy of life”. This is what they want and they don’t even hide it anymore.

The whole situation today is that the "majority", i.e., the 51% who want others to pay their way, is taxing the crap out of the OTHERS (the 49% who fund every handout), and it's pushing us ever-closer to a second Civil War.

Now that the "majority" lives of "government funds", the funders are so pissed at the fundee's and their enablers in office, that it's gonna take some SERIOUS confrontation to get back to the U.S. Constitution's intent and plain language govenance and freedoms.

sounds to me like BO is writing it behind closed doors...just like he said he wouldn’t do.

only the “final negotiation” is being televised.

oh, and the “reconciliation” thing—yeah, that is gonna go over REAL WELL.

Keep it up, BO. A day is comin’ when Republicans will control the Senate and House. You DemonRats better think twice before pulling this reconciliation trick.

Rename, repackage, rewrite it a tad smaller, and sell another pig in a poke.

Tennessee has joined several other states in trying to pass a Health Care Freedom Act. NO COLAs for granny, retired Military or retired fed employees. BIG NEW fees for Tricare for Life retired over 65 Military's secondary health ins. (DOD bill already passed, delayed but goes into effect 2011)

New Dem mantra: Woof, woof eat dog food granny....ala let them eat cake.

Obama's War on Seniors

TRI CARE FOR LIFE This from a google search:

http://economicspolitics.blogspot.com/2009/05/tricare-for-life-is-obama-trying-to.html

This option would help reduce the costs of TFL, as well as costs for Medicare, by introducing minimum out-of pocket requirements for beneficiaries. Under this option, TFL would not cover any of the first $525 of an enrollee’s cost-sharing liabilities for calendar year 2011 and would limit coverage to 50 percent of the next $4,725 in Medicare cost sharing that the beneficiary incurred. (Because all further cost sharing would be covered by TFL, enrollees could not pay more than $2,888 in cost sharing in that year.)

Congress plans to block Tricare fee increases
http://www.armytimes.com/news/2009/10/military_tricarefees_blocked_100709w

By Rick Maze - Staff writer, Oct 7, 2009

Tricare fee increases imposed last week by the Defense Department will be repealed by a provision of the compromise 2010 defense authorization bill unveiled Wednesday by House and Senate negotiators.

Snip

The fee increases were announced on Sept. 30 and took effect on Oct. 1, but the defense bill, HR 2647, includes a provision barring any fee increases until the start of fiscal 2011.

Snip

Retired Army Maj. Gen. Bill Matz, president of the National Association for Uniformed Services, said the announcement of fee increases was shocking considering that the Obama administration promised earlier this year to hold off on any new fee Tricare fee increases until fiscal 2011.

“President Obama and DoD assured NAUS and the entire military family earlier this year that there would rightly be no increases in any Tricare fees” in fiscal 2010, Matz said. “We took them at their word, and I can’t believe that a co-pay increase like this was allowed to go forward,” he added.

Bambi doesn't keep his promises...so buyer beware
