Palin and Brown: Mitt Romney's best friends [barf]
WaPo ^ | Feb. 19, 2010 | E. J. Dionne

Posted on 02/19/2010 4:52:41 PM PST by Al B.

Mitt Romney got a rousing reception at the Conservative Political Action Conference. And why not? He was introduced by the new conservative hero, Scott Brown, the Massachusetts senator whose election Romney played an important role in bringing about.

And I am starting to think that Sarah Palin is Mitt Romney's other best friend. First, compared with Palin, Romney is a plausible president. Many conservatives won't say that publicly for fear of alienating Palin or her followers, but they believe it. Suddenly, Romney's looking like a bit -- or more than a bit -- of a technocrat becomes an asset to him.

Second, Romney is a kind of front-runner for the 2012 Republican Presidential nomination, and Palin's huge presence in the media blocks out alternatives to Romney (notably Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty, who appeared at CPAC today). The media don't have much time or room for a long list of GOP candidates, and the media obsession with Palin leaves space for only one other candidate. Romney has the best claim on that spot.

Oh, yes. E.J. certainly only wants what’s best for the Republican Party.

This thread is a duplicate of one posted 3 minutes earlier.

Because the poster of the one 3 minutes earlier made up his own title.

What good does a title search do?

I only posted this because it is added info on the organized and frenzied campaign of the last few days to knock her out right now. LOL.

Gov. Palin has got to be laughing at all this while up in Alaska helping her husband get ready for the snowmachine race.

Hey EJ, you moron. Scott Brown is NO cosnervative and neither is Willard. NO conservative in their right mind would support either one of these scumbags!

They not only tell us who is the front leader but also how many Republican candidates they “have time and room for”.

Such hubris.

Is Mitt the man on a White Horse that can save the republic? Has he really converted to Conservative? If he has OK, if its all a fraud we need to find out and kick him off the tea party bandwagon. Don’t look at his past but all he has or hasn’t done this year. No more RINOs need apply.

He’s a conservative. No, he’s a liberal. No, he’s a moderate. My conclusion is that he is nothing and wouldn’t get my vote no matter what words came out of his mouth.

It would be understandable if he was a liberal when young and then saw the light and was consistently conservative thereafter. He changes with the weather always trying to give people the answer they want to hear. He is a politician of the political class.

All the people at CPAC are peddling their conservatism. See how conservative I am! Look,I’m against Obama. I’m more conservative than so and so. Have these people governed? How did they govern? Did they create new social entitlements like Romneycare? Did they ever balance a budget? Do they live their values if they have any?

We don’t need a sideshow to select candidates. We need to get serious and cut through the BS.

Mitt Romneycare and the MSM worked to attack Gov. Palin
and her children -- and throw the election to Obama.

America will NEVER forget what Mitt RomneyCARE and the MSM did.

The McCain/Palin ticket was up ++8 to 10 pts. in some polls, days prior to the election.
So rather than helping the GOP, poor loser “I am Myth” Romney and
TeamROMNEY decided …… to attack Gov. Palin (and her defenseless children) to throw Election2008.

"Frum was indeed a critic of Palin, calling her nomination a "huge mistake" during an October 13 (2008, weeks before the election) Early Show appearance."

David Frum: "Two of our most plausible candidates for president in 2012 are leading Mormons: Mitt Romney and Utah governor Jon Huntsman."

David Frum: "I have a lot of regard for Mitt Romney as a man and politician… I will support him without qualm."

Late in October, The American Spectator's The Prowler revealed:
"Former Mitt Romney presidential campaign staffers…
have been involved in spreading anti-Palin spin to reporters, seeking to diminish her standing after the election.
'Sarah Palin is a lightweight, she won't be the first, not even the third, person people will think of when it comes to 2012,'
says one former Romney aide…
'The only serious candidate ready to challenge to lead the Republican Party is Mitt Romney.
"Some former Romney aides were behind the recent leaks to media, including CNN, that Governor Sarah Palin was a 'diva' and was going off message intentionally."

The Palmetto Scoop reported: "One of the first stories to hit the national airwaves was
the claim of a major internal strife between close McCain aides and the folks handling his running mate Sarah Palin."
"I’m told by very good sources that this was indeed the case and that a rift had developed, but it was between Palin’s people and the staffers brought on from the failed presidential campaign of former Gov. Mitt Romney, not McCain aides."
"The sources said nearly 80 percent of Romney’s former staff was absorbed by McCain and these individuals were responsible for what amounts to a premeditated, last-minute sabotage of Palin."
… aides loyal to Romney inside the McCain campaign, said The Scoop, reportedly saw
that Palin would be a serious contender for the Republican nomination in 2012 or 2016, which made her a threat to another presidential quest by Romney.

Erick Erickson, who organized Operation Leper, said:
"These staffers are now out trying to finish her off ….hoping it would ingratiate themselves with Mitt Romney."

"Who's the Palin Leaker from the McCain Campaign?
National Review Online The publication of a Vanity Fair profile of Sarah Palin
appears to have opened old wounds in the McCain campaign.
... the source of the “Diva” leak was Nicolle Wallace’s husband."

Kathleen Parker: "[I]t is increasingly clear that Palin is a problem." "Parker ... says something publicly that many of us have thought privately
but lacked the courage to say out loud - Palin should step down:"

"Kathleen Parker: After Interviews, Palin Should Bow Out"

Kathleen Parker: "Romney would bring more than squeaky clean qualifications
and youthful good looks to the ticket.
Romney would seem a logical choice."

"Parker: Romney raised bar on freedoms"
Kathleen Parker: "If Kennedy's speech was an important landmark in American political history,
Romney's was surpassing. With heartfelt humility and poetic eloquence,
he tracked the nation's struggle with and for freedom."

Staggering bigotry of Kathleen Parker - UPDATED"

So Romney is now the MSM’s favorite Repub. Before the last election it was McCain, they had chosen as the one, on the Repub side.
