of course there is conflict of interest. Would LaHood want the Toyota Board to police GM? why cant the govt sell GM back to private investors and give the proceeds to the taxpayer?

In the meantime, yack is going around the grapevine alleging that Toyotas have suffered a stuck accelerator problem in models where neither of the fixes proferred by Toyota (poor fitting mat, software fix) is applicable. Now it’s not 100% certain this yack is originating with the unions/Rats, but I’d give it a 95%.

He purposefully damaged a car company competing with Obama Motors.

Toyota and Honda make the highest-quality mass-produced vehicles in the U.S., and they make them in blue states with non-UAW labor.
I know people who have Honda Civics which have gone 300K miles with nothing but routine maintenance. Detroit has never made an economy car with that kind of durability. This harassment of Toyota and Honda is just Chicago-style crony politics writ large.
