Texas governor's race not turning out as expected
The Fort Worth Star Telegram ^ | 2/20/2010 | DAVE MONTGOMERY

WHARTON -- It began as a battle of the titans, with Rick Perry -- the longest serving governor in Texas history -- being challenged in the GOP primary by the state's senior U.S. senator, Kay Bailey Hutchison.

But as the multimillion-dollar contest comes to a close, Perry's bid for another four-year term appears to hinge not only on Hutchison's strength but on the fate of the third candidate in the race -- Debra Medina, a once-obscure insurgent whose showing in the March 2 primary will decide whether Perry wins outright or faces an April runoff. With Perry holding a seemingly insurmountable lead in polls, the governor's race in recent weeks began evolving into a surprise battle for second place as Medina appeared to be within striking distance of overtaking Hutchison, one of the state's dominant political figures.

But Medina's detractors -- as well as several independent analysts -- say she may have self-destructed in a Feb. 11 interview with conservative commentator Glenn Beck by not immediately disavowing a theory that the U.S. government may have played a role in the 9-11 terrorist attacks.

The former Wharton County Republican chairwoman quickly sought to repair the damage, saying there was no doubt that Muslim terrorists flew the hijacked planes on 9-11. Medina now says she believes the incident may have strengthened her candidacy by galvanizing supporters, positioning her for a strong showing against her two Republican rivals.

"Did it feel good? No. Am I sick of answering the questions? Yes. I am," she said in an hourlong interview last week in her Wharton campaign headquarters. "But at the end of day, I think it's going to be labeled backfire," she added, repeating her contention that she was set up in Beck's interview.

The way Houston hated him, he’s probably just hangin out waiting until he is annointed in the dem primary. I think it would be hilarious if the camel jock got the dem nom, at least he would carry Arlingistan.

Obama doesn’t have to disclose that info.....
Because the Founding Fathers obviously did not see any strong need to set up any mechanism other than to got nuclear in the House when Electrorial Votes are certified.

We need to make a change to make it a requirement for every serious candidate, but no only BC and to include passport, college, etc.. Don't need any future "possibilities" like now that could bite us on the backside, like now.

I sure would like to see homeboys college writings.

They would tell us more about the punk than his BC

Keep thinking that as our state gets overrun from the Mexican hoards to the south.

States aren't responsible for protecting the borders. By law, only the feds can do that.

Blame who's responsible, not an innocent bystander.

Perry did some very shitty things with the trans Texas corridor and toll roads.

The TTC died but we got lots of toll roads.

I didn't like the TTC either.

But, look at it this way, after ten years, you're going to hold one mistake against the guy?

And, while neither of us are enamored of toll roads, we both live in rural areas -- and never have to use them. By the same token, I've never heard my friends in the city -- who actually use them -- complain about them.

I repeat my question: Can you name a better-run state than Texas?

Not from Texas, but you like Perry? May I please suggest that you like Perry BECAUSE you are not from Texas and haven’t had to watch his shenanigans up close.

NOT one of the good guys, but he may be the best we have this year. It’s a shame.

She wouldn’t have to be answering the questions NOW if she’d given a simple “NO” answer then.

She would have been in the run-off with Perry (and still might be)and then generated enough excitement to win in November. But, that 42 second gaffe in the Glenn Beck interview..........................

I can’t believe the pitiful lot we have to choose from in the GOP Primary.

When was that picture taken? Was it in the early stages of the Campaign?

Yep; if a true Conservative would have entered this race, he, or she, would have won.

La Raza probably has her in their back pocket!
_____________________________________________________________You best hope not. La Raza is the ACORN of the Hispanic Community. They can get her a whole heck of a lot of votes. I’m thinking the high predicted turnout will favor Medina.
