(Newser) – It's time to get past the incessant partisan potshots being taken at President Obama and forge some progress, Colin Powell told Face the Nation today.
"I don’t think the country will be well served if the next three years are attempts to bring him down and destroy him as a political figure," said the Republican, who added that "Americans will want to see some progress" and said he doesn't regret voting for Obama in 2008.
Powell also dismissed Dick Cheney's suggestions that the country was less safe under Obama as bunk: "To suggest that somehow we’ve become much less safe because of the administration isn’t born out by the facts.”

When I read that wording from Communist Party USA, it reminded me of the new name for Operation Iraqi Freedom beginning in September.
"The U.S. military mission in Iraq will soon be getting a name change. As of Sept. 1, "Operation Iraqi Freedom" becomes "Operation New Dawn."

But .. the general didn’t think it was important to lay off of Bush .. while he was betraying him, and while the general knew it was his own staff member who had leaked the information.
I never trusted the general, and I was unhappy when Bush appointed him. I remember how he bristled at Cheney during Desert Storm.
He just wants us to shut up because it’s a constant reminder that he voted for a black man who’s a joke of a president, and now he’s feeling guilty about it and he’s tired of being reminded.
And this from a guy who said, more or less, ‘well, I really don’t support him but I can’t not be a part of supporting this historic ballot.’
He really said that, or words to that effect.
First of all, Powell has never been a Republican. He is a whore. Second, the country won't be well served if we let Obama get what he wants, Powell, YOU IDIOT!
