Commentarys Peter Wehner rightly draws attention to George Wills superb speech at CPAC last week. Although the speeches of other speakers, such as Newt Gingrich, Andrew Breitbart, Glenn Beck and, yes, even Ron Paul were covered extensively in the blogosphere, Wills speech has largely been ignored. This is, as far as Im concerned, a shame, because Will truly knocked one out of the park, as Wehner puts it.
Wills main point was that the Lefts main goal is to make Americans dependent on the government for pretty much everything. He succinctly called this the dependency agenda.
I strongly encourage you to watch the 3o-minute video. I know youre busy and that thirty minutes is quite a long time for the average blogreader, but please, watch it nonetheless. It will help you understand the Lefts agenda and the threat it poses to the American way of life better than ever before. In other words, as far as Im concerned its well worth your time.

Thanks for posting. Actually the cackling laugh woman is kind of funny—it’s making me laugh.
;)
Will mentions the Washington D.C. schools. Stossel did a good program on his show about public schools/teachers’ unions the other day:

He is talking about HSA’s. I wish my husband’s employer would have those. He had it at his last job—grew to love it.

Ping to George Will’s speech at CPAC. It’s very good.
I agree. I don’t agree with him on the death penalty, but I’m going to agree with him on more things than not. I’m not a huge fan of his, but his speech is clever and entertaining and spot on.
It’s well done, informative and entertaining. Here is part one on YouTube:

Interesting analysis of Brown’s vote

Oh my: Scott Brown to vote with Dems on Obamas jobs bill

No crying. We knew this day would come.
I came to Washington to be an independent voice, to put politics aside, and to do everything in my power to help create jobs for Massachusetts families, Brown said in a statement issued by his office. This Senate jobs bill is not perfect. I wish the tax cuts were deeper and broader, but I will vote for it because it contains measures that will help put people back to work.
I was disappointed with the continuation of politics-as-usual in the drafting of this bill, as it was crafted behind closed doors, without transparency and accountability. I hope for improvements in that process going forward. All of us, Republicans and Democrats, have to work together to get our economy back on track. I hope my vote today is a strong step toward restoring bipartisanship in Washington.
Well, look. Obviously he needs to signal the left-leaning indies back home who voted for him that hell break their way sometimes.
Even armed with a huge war chest for 2012, he aint getting reelected as a party-line Republican. In which case, two reasons why this might not be a bad time to throw a vote to the Dems.
One: The bill might not pass, even with Browns vote. Because of Frank Lautenbergs illness, Reid only has 59 at the moment with the roll coming up later tonight. If Brown can prove his bipartisanship on a bill thats going down in flames anyway, sweet.
Two: Even if it does pass, Reid already had to pare the bill all the way down from $85 billion to just $15 billion to keep the heat from fiscal conservatives off of his caucus ahead of November. Whats left wont do much to create jobs, but then, thats not really the point; the point is to give Dems some sort of cosmetic measure to point to in the run-up to the midterms so that they can say, See, were trying to create jobs!
Browns strategy, essentially, is to use that logic against them by throwing them a vote he can use to try to keep the seat red in two years.
Stand by for an update once the floor vote begins. All eyes, as usual, are on Ben Nelson. Exit question: On a scale of one to 10, whats the heart-ache rating on this one?
Update: Cloture passed, with Snowe, Collins, and Voinovich also voting yes. No surprise, really. Like I say, this was a (relatively) cheap way for moderates to purchase bipartisan cred. Or rather, most moderates: Ben Nelson voted no.

I was born and raised in Massachusetts, surrounded by people steeped in Republican Derangement Syndrome. My own mother (lifelong Democrat) once explained that she was raised to believe that Republicans were born with horns coming out of their foreheads. Yet she was a conservative and a huge Rush Limbaugh fan. This is the political schizophrenia that Republicans from Massachusetts must deal with.
Anyone who expected Brown to conform to the standards of Republicans from solid red states has probably never experienced a lifetime behind enemy lines.
I'm not ready to panic (yet).
Health Savings Accounts are the answer, if your question is addressing the concerns that the left is SAYING they are concerned about.
HSAs are NOT the answer if your question is “how do we control the most amount of people”.
I’m also from MA ... my high school friends,
with the exception of 2, are brainwashed,
and my sis and hubby are missing rational
political thought glands. My 92 yr old Mom
awakened to the chicanery and thievery,
God bless her, and my godson and wife see
the light .. but the majority are Dem programmed
or indifferent.
Damn embedded generational Camelot psychosis.
