Meg Whitman may not be fond of referring to herself as a Republican in her ubiquitous radio ads -- and Steve Poizner was the GOP guv candidate snuggling with the right-wing at the CPAC confab last week along with US Senate candidate Chuck DeVore-- but it was Meg who snagged some big time conservative love Monday when the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Group PAC endorsed her.
Wrote HoJar prez Jon Coupal Monday:
"High taxes and out-of-control spending have pushed California state government to the brink of bankruptcy, and we need strong leadership to put California back on track. Meg Whitman is the only reliable fiscal conservative in the race, ..
"We're standing with Meg to fight for Californians who believe taxes are too high, the government spends too much money and that our schools must be improved so children can achieve their goals."

The Ca GoP as it is constituted doesn’t want to go against the grain of thought these days in the heads of the party leaders. They continue to retreat and blend into those they claimto be opposed to. .. the deficits grow, the debt load grows, tax rate hikes beckon.. shades of re-pete wilson.. why has the GoP forsaken us .. and chosen to spin on a big tent pole instead, smiling to anyone that cares to watch the 19th hole circus lounge acts.
I think the Howard Jarvis people think she is the best possibility to beat Jerry Brown in the general election. I guess they figure half a loaf is better than no loaf of bread.
