The Washington Post ^ | 2010-01-23 | Shailagh Murray

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) announced the members of the Senate Republican delegation to Thursday's White House health-care summit, and the list includes Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.).

The Arizona Republican is not known as a health-care expert. But as the Republican presidential nominee in 2008, McCain offered a sweeping reform plan with some elements that overlap with the Obama proposal, and others that would have represented a radical departure from the current system.

These guys are idiots. Evidently they didn't read or don't believe Wes Pruden in the Washington Times today: Laying a Trap for the Republicans.

NO DOCTORS (who are legislators) are invited! That should tell anyone all they need to know about this PHOTO OP!

I’m certain they know what it’s all about, but it remain to be seen what they’ll do.

I have my faith in the House guys. The fossil senators are worrisome.

I agree with mwl’s assessment. Normally, McCain would be to the left of Obama. But, in primary season - with a threat from his right - McC is certain to be to the right of Rush Limbaugh!

Yes, kcvl.

Tom Coburn (Okla.) & John Barrasso (Wyo.) both are physicians.

Good idea two physicians...I expect they’ll be double loaded too. Doesn’t seem to be any one with a really strong voice though? Maybe the intent will be to walk out at some juncture...this is going to be interesting.

Well, I think we can imagine who had a hand in omitting DeMint.
Maybe someone who didn’t get his endorsement?

Their are only two DRs in the Senate....but a fairly decent per centage of the House are Drs. That’s why I’m anxous to see the House list....IMO, The Drs in the House are better organized and more verbal.

“McCain will attend White House health summit”

Well, of course he will! Obama needs all the help he can get. Not surprising McConnell picked him. You won’t find McConnell EVER picking a conservative, like Inhofe from the senate, to represent us. McConnell is another one who should have been gone long ago and will help usher in amnesty.

“The Arizona Republican is not known as a health-care expert.”

That doesn’t stop him from introducing ridiculous legislation like this one:

McCain strikes another blow to freedom! Legislation alert!
