Feminism: The Masquerade
David Horowitz's NewsReal Blog ^ | Jenn Q.

You’ve got a long way to go, baby. And don’t you forget it.

This oasis of freedom and equality we call the United States? It’s all a mirage, says leftist feminist Jessica Valenti. In fact, “We’re suffering under the mass delusion that women in America have achieved equality.”

Well, thanks for the armchair diagnosis, Jessica, but I won’t play a victim character in the live action role playing game you call feminism.

And that’s exactly what leftist feminism is: an elaborate fantasy world spun from ginned up scare-tistics and cherry-picked anecdotes. Like Trutherism and Birtherism, it provides participants with the safe excitement of an ever so valiant struggle that will last just as long as they feel like playing the game.

Never mind that real threats to women’s equality like Islamic gender apartheid and totalitarianism are no fantasy. When you’re the one making up the rules, the false notion that pregnant women are murdered by their male partners at an alarming rate is an indisputably worthy cause. And how will women understand the true extent of their oppression if someone doesn’t perpetuate the myth (PDF) of a massive gender-based wage gap?

NewsReal’s John L. Work suggests that Jessica Valenti is consumed by anger that causes her to lose all perspective. But I suspect she’s well aware of her carefully chosen perspective.

Jessica is invested in weaving this tapestry of tortured data because it’s rewarding.

An orange can never be an apple. A female can never be a male. The equality argument is specious. Men and women are not interchangeable in the workplace. This nonsense about "equality" has degraded the workplace, degraded the effectiveness and efficiency of our military, and has degraded the men in this country. Colleges have and graduate more women than men. This nonsensical argument, bought by sissy men in the congress, has less than zero cost benefits to our culture.

It is time to take a look at the successful relationship between men and women in Mormon society, Amish society, Biblical times, and Muslim society, IMO. I am ready to revert to the 1950s when women were women and men were men. Any other argument is utter nonsense!

I didn’t read her article. Did she apologize for the left’s despicable treatment of a that female, conservative powerhouse Sarah Palin?

women in this country will never have equality until they: open doors for men, give up their seats to men, demand “Men and children first” during rescue situations, etc..

Yeah, and what about that whole selective service thingy for which only men are required to register? Oh I forgot, it's only we mean old men who fight wars together...I'd love to have a link right here but I'm lazy, so let me just state the obvious: women are just as likely as men to engage in aggressive behavior, including wars.

Reinstate the 1950’s and you’ll still get the 1960’s ten years later.

It used to be that only men fought in the military...

...and correspondingly, only men had the right to vote.

Depends on what aspects of the 1950s you institute.

Jim Crow segregation laws were not established in the “conservative” 50s. They were old Democrat laws being cast off.

The sexual revolution of Kinsey began in the 1940s as did the post-war skin magazines that begat Hugh Hefner’s Playboy (and Russ Meyer’s nudie cutie adults only feature films).

The Communists had been pushing for power in America since the revolution in Russia. The House Committee of Unamerican Activities was investigation their actions starting in the 1930s. The Cold War with the Soviets began in the aftermath of WWII, not as a result of 1950s policies.

I just watched a video of the Israeli ambassador’s speech at UC Irvine and I guarantee you that if a well fed feminist had gotten in front of that crowd they would roasted her, especially if she was jewish.

Yes I agree, but it stirs no emotion, it is as a poster above said, “a cash sucking machine” run by harpies well past their due date.

Fathers are portrayed as deserters or villains by default, and that is used as the rationale to rob them of their families, homes, and money.

Would you believe my synagogue had a “Feminist Seder”? I went, thinking it would be a traditional Seder, just w/the women of the congregation. It was a Women’s Lib celebration!! Then there was a speech about “being inclusive”. Ah,yes...we must accept the homosexuals! I hope I never see the day where an unrepentant homo gets the chance to be called up to read the Torah! Would an unrepentant adulterer be allowed to? People need to get it into their thick skulls that people choose to be gay, just like they choose to have sex w/someone who’s married,or someone who’s not their spouse.
