He never explicitly says that "Iran wants nukes because they feel threatened by us." and to say that he does is a lie. Don't just click the link, watch the video.
I guess he thinks of Iran like an angry dog that you know you can kill but you would rather avoid. It feels threatened by us - true. It wants nukes for multiple reasons - true. So what? Should we take over every non-nuke country in the world because they might we wasting and money time trying to get one? We can disagree with him, I do. But don't put words in the man's mouth.

Over the years, I have gotten FReepmails like that from Paulbots, who inevitably end up getting banned. I wonder if it’s the same person who just has a list he re-uses.

No why would I think that? FR is the best political forum on the web it does what it does and the Birchers do what they do.
I've read a little about the Birchers lately. John Birch was Chistian missionary and decorated American officer and hero who aided Jimmy Doolitle, The Flying Tigers and the OSS. The society named after him (after his death) became excessivley controversial after the founder, Robert Welch, circulated a letter calling President Dwight D. Eisenhower a possible "conscious, dedicated agent of the Communist Conspiracy" They are anticommunist. I don't know much more about them. I never met anyone that I knew was a Bircher. I guess I'd go so far as to call them co-belligerents.
