Washington (CNN) – President Obama tersely reminded Sen. John McCain Thursday during the White House health care summit that, "We're not campaigning anymore. The election is over."
The president was referring to the 2008 presidential race, but McCain still has a Senate campaign to deal with back in Arizona. And on Friday, his re-election campaign released yet another radio spot, this time enlisting his fellow Arizona Sen. Jon Kyl to promote McCain's "conservative principles."
Kyl narrates the 30-second ad and tell listeners: "Arizona could have no stronger advocate than John. He's with me every step of the way in fighting for conservative principles in Washington."

His father was a U.S. representative from IA, but I don’t know if the senior Kyl was liberal or not.

you guys always harp on my not being a 100% ‘my way or hiway’ type conservative, so make up yer mind, either i can appreciate the ‘good’ stuff sheriff Joe does, or just wait til its time and let the chips fall where they may ???
I like the way you handled it — letting him know that we have a new rule: “Thou shalt not support RINOs.” At the same time, “thin ice” means you know Kyle has built up respect over the years, the only reason you’re putting up with this at all.
Also to let Kyle think he has a chance to win my vote if he changes his tune.
If I tell him ‘no vote’ whateoever, he’ll feel he has nothing to gain by listening to me (he’s received a lot of correspondence from me over the years.. and I’ve gotten some back, too, for what its worth).
I have a lot of friends out in Sun City and I keep telling them it's a sign of weakness and now they are beginning to believe me. NOBODY has to have this many people campaign for him if he has anything to offer.
Perhaps it’s because JD can fight his own battles, he doesn’t need to call in other to save his sorry, saggy, weak old A$$.
Just so you know, Sheriff Joe is a good guy. He walks on water here in Arizona where we’ve been on the front lines of the illegal immigration matter. You have to have lived here and seen the result to know why so many people here love him. Sarah is on thin ice backing McCain. Most of us love her, but if she and her supporters start trying to sink JD, she won’t recover here.
The theme for all of McCain’s radio ads is that he is a man of “character”. I guess that depends on the definition of “character”.
