"Honest adults with licensed guns, go away. Lawbreakers looking for sitting ducks, step right in." Actually, the sign at the entrance to the Phoenix, Arizona restaurant simply read, "No Firearms." I returned to my car and left.
A wave of constipated thinking has afflicted some Arizonans after legislators passed a law allowing licensed concealed handguns to be carried into businesses that serve alcohol as long as the licensees consume none. Proprietors have the option to post the "No Firearms" sign, and many have done so.

Or, you can start a blog listing, allowing visitors (moderated to keep the idiots out) to post their experiences at "un-gun-friendly" restaurants in town, and “metatag” it properly so that a restaurant search for that city will bring it to the first page of your search results. Promote your list site through local gun shops and ranges. Word will spread fast. Your users will also promote friendly restaurants, who will love you for it.
Restaurants live and die by word of mouth. There's an old principle about the impact of word of mouth advertising - "Every unsatisfied customer will cost you a dozen or more - Every satisfied customer might gain you 4 or 5".
All of the advertising and promotion will not keep them in business very long if they keep turning customers away. Don't be rude, don't be abusive. Simply spell out your reasons for spending your money elsewhere. Politely and cogently make your case for not patronizing them, and other CCW holders will do the same.
The restaurant may get some "sympathy" customers, who will dine there out of political support for their position, but they won't last.
And if you've made your "protection" case well enough, the normal people will start to feel unsafe there.
Yup. Tennessee has the same thing. The TN media refer to it as the "Guns in Bars" law, lol. No negative connotations there (sarcasm). A judge ruled it was "unconstitutionally vague" making the anti-gun folks happy. The legislature is going to re-word it. Gun owners weren't happy with the old wording anyway because counties and restaurants can independently declare this area and that area "gun free zones" despite our lawful right to carry. I agree with another poster, if there's a "no guns" allowed sign, I spend my money elsewhere.
When I worked in Texas back in the '90s, there was a law where restaurant owners could post a "no firearms" sign.
Some CCW holders then patronized these places. When the waitress gave them a menu, they gave her a business card and asked that she give it to the manager.
It said something like this (probably not as wordy):
I have a license to carry concealed.
Due to your "No Firearms" sign, I am not carrying.
Thank you for assuming the legal liability
of protecting me while in this establishment.
Should any harm come to me while here,
my family will have our attorney contact you.
Then they ordered a cup of coffee, leisurely drank it, and left, but tres cool, they left a big tip for the waitress.
Many places took their signs down. They didn't want to risk a law suit or figured out this was a meaningless law. The only penalty if outed was to ask the "perp" to leave or face a trespassing fine. If you gotta eat at one of these places, remember that CCW means CONCEALED, so unless you are sloppy, who's goona know?

I’ve definitely put my some time in Waffle Houses late at nite. It can be a learning experience.
Brandsmarts have them. They also know what a fanny pack is for. Boynton Mall has the signs at the mall entrances, but not at the department store entrances. Wellingotn Mall said they have that policy, but I haven’t seen the signs at the doors I use.
That was told to me as a joke but I’ve actually experienced the reality. I was down in small town South Carolina on business, couldn’t sleep one night, decided to go out and get something to eat. Little podunk town, of course the only place open in the middle of the night was Waffle House. So I go in, decide I want pecan pie and a coffee, and the waitress comes over to get my order, and she DOES have about three teeth! Probably not the best strategery on their part to sell more pie, but I bought some anyway!
