Big quake question: Are they getting worse?

Seismic shockers are to be expected, but planet seems to be more active.

SNIP

While the Chilean earthquake wasn't directly related to Japan's 7.0-magnitude temblor, the two have some factors in common.

For one, any seismic waves that made their way from Japan to the Chilean coast could play a slight role in ground-shaking.

"It is too far away for any direct triggering, and those distances also make the seismic waves as they would pass by from the Haiti or Japan events pretty small because of attenuation," Arrowsmith told LiveScience. (Attenuation is the decrease in energy with distance.) "Nevertheless, if the Chilean fault surface were close to failure, those small waves could push it even closer."

Totally agree with Mr. Arrowsmith.

Climate change. East Anglica University and the UN has figured this out already.

“... (Attenuation is the decrease in energy with distance.)...”

That statement was needed for just about every dimbulb politician out there...and for the vast majority of progressives.

While you’re at it, libs, look up “extinction” which is the atmospheric term analogous to attenuation.

And then see what the extinction atmospheric value for CO2 was 100 years ago, and what it is now.

With that information, and about 20 years of science that you all missed, you might figure out why global warming is just a bunch of bull-Obama.

Actually, it’s Obama’s fault. (And I’m not sure if that’s satirical or not.)

Really? How bad were earthquakes in 1600? 1400? 1200? 1000? 500? 200BC?

Please tell us.

Just like the person who wrote 30 years ago (I still remember the letter to the editor) that when THEY grew up we never had the tornadoes and terrible storms we are having now. Someone polited reminded her a few days later that when SHE grew up there weren’t near the people NOR the media to report on the storms that were occuring just as they always had. Same here.

All I'm saying here is if you have anything you want to do before you die but haven't done yet - now is the time to do it.

For me, I've always wanted to run around Times Square naked singing the Talking Heads song "Life During Wartime" at the top of my lungs.

I'm headed to Manhattan next week before it is too late.

Didn’t Jesus say there would be earthquakes?

Mark 13:7-8

And when you hear of wars and rumors of wars, do not get alarmed (troubled and frightened); it is necessary [that these things] take place, but the end is not yet.

For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be earthquakes in various places; there will be famines and calamities. This is but the beginning of the intolerable anguish and suffering [only the first of the birth pangs]

Um, it was a joke. Granted it wasn't a good joke but it was a joke just the same.

Doesn’t Dick Cheney have an earthquake machine to go with his hurricane aiming machine?

I know that we were accused by some in the world of having an earthquake generator that we aimed at nations in the way of the big tsunami in the western Pacific years ago.

How come we haven’t gotten the blame for this one? /sarc
