WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama begins the week with a focus on education and keeping kids in school.
At an event Monday hosted by former Gen. Colin Powell and his wife, Alma, Obama will announce new steps aimed at improving the nation's schools.

I am confused. I thought he was going to do the laser focus on jobs thing? This guy sure seems to get side tracked a lot.

I somehow doubt that their entire plan is that benign.
Wasting taxpayer money and raising taxes in a recession is benign?
Our schools are already a mess. Yeah they will raise taxes and throw more money at them, what worries me even more is what else they may have planned. Our idea of improving the schools is very different from theirs methinks.
Will he teach kids the best way to do this?

The Teachers unions are already pissed off at him because his Secretary of Ed is a huge proponent of Charters, and teacher accountability. In fact last week he "applauded" the school board out east that fired the entire staff!
Anything to make the union madder is fine by me.

He did that already? He appointed a "commission". It's time to solve the next great problem.
I just saw it. At least he was doing something there that he has experience in doing successfully, he looks like a pro.
Half of the kids they keep in schools would be better off in reform school.

I don’t think he is really for education if it means exposing the real Obama to the gullible American people. He means indoctrination into his own viewpoints.
It’s another one of those “pillars” he talked about when he first became president. I guess he’s done so well on the other ones that he feels comfortable with moving on now and screwing up education.
Of course, the right answer is to get the Federal Government entirely out of the education business. But that’s probably not on his agenda. Just guessing.
