Exactly. Everyone should be assigned a job, because if you let employers choose to hire employees on some objective basis, that would be bad.

They do and they will. It is the way it should be.

His backup check was to have a look at how the applicants care for their cars. I talked with a landlord once who told me he also evaluated potential tenants by how well they took care of their teeth.

The way I see it, if a company is stupid enough to reject somebody because of their credit history, they have the right to make that mistake. A wise company would take other factors into account, and even allow the applicant to explain the reasons for the bad credit, and would be willing to weigh in mitigating factors. That's prettu much how I see it as well.
