Jim Bunning, whose Father's Day perfect game gives many Phillies fans smiles even after 46 years, has thrown the Democrats and their enablers a curve that should bring smiles to all who care about this country.
The major-leaguer turned Kentucky senator has by his lonesome blocked a bill that would extend unemployment benefits and health insurance for the millions of Americas who have been out of work for months in the Obama economy.
Pretty mean, huh? Well Bunning points out that the bill he is blocking adds $10 billion to the deficit which is spiraling out of control under our president, Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi -- it's projected to hit $1.6 trillion this year -- and is violating a sworn oath made by our legislators to pay for new costs rather than use deficit spending.

We can consider Bunning a Pennsylvanian :-)
Does he have any plans for 2012? Because he gets it!
He’s 78 and retiring. You’re right, though, he gets it.
This is a Great American. Many schools will be named for him. The time to make a stand is NOW. No more spending without cuts some where else. All he suggested was to take all that stimulus pork money left over and spend it on this stuff. Bunning for PRESIDENT!!
;)
Starve the monkeys. Stop feeding the raccoons.
Great game in ‘64. I spent the last half of the game downstairs where it was cool outside the heat of the day. No AC back then. Didn’t miss a pitch.
Go Jim Go!
Problem is that without the rest of the GOP behind him, he’s easily attacked. When one of the useful idiots from ME attacks him, then it gets painted a certain way. While he’s right on principle, so was shutting down congress under Gingrich. But we know how that turned out.
Pay as you go. Don’t load our grandchildren with a debt of thousands of dollars. If you can’t pay for it, you can’t have it. The chickens are flopping home to roost after decades of mis management. But the bankers still get a nice bonus. Is this a great country or what?
If the Pubs are smart (I know, I know) they could make this work big-time in their favor. Those people who would be getting cut off have been collecting for a year, most Americans are still working and don't appreciate paying for them.
And Bunning is not even talking about cutting them off. He just wants to use money already in the budget so as not to increase the debt.
It's not a hard message to communicate.
Although Mauch gave him a lot of chances to win 20 in '64 :-)
Hey everybody, let Sen. Bunning know you appreciate his effort. These guys need to hear from us when they do the right thing, too.
Already e-mailed him...told him I appreciated his move against the Cloward/Piven Strategy.
I will NOW e-mail my own congresscritter and tell him to support Bunning.
This is a gambit to get the Dems to spend 10 billion of their stmulus slush fund before November. That’s why the Dems don’t want to do it...they’re planning on using that slush fund...your tax dollars, to get reelected.
Does he get it because he is retiring or would he still get it if he decided to run for re-election in 2012?
Whats more important is he’s acting rather than admitting DC is out of control & giving up. I think he also has highlighted just how truly gutless Congress as a whole is. Most of DC is there to enrich themselves at the expense of the tax payers.
I had a Jim Bunning model baseball glove since I was around 9 or 10 years old (1959-60). I know I didn’t throw it away but for the life of me I can’t find it........
