We have a 2009 Escape - love it too.

Only 1 small problem - there are no hooks to tie down the cargo.

But Ford is a union shop, isn’t it?

Not union enough for solidarity with it’s brothers and sisters. Obviously Fords UAW representatives and stewards need to be replaced right away. Lower all boats ya know.

Good News.

Now instead of the headline “Obama Nationalizes Largest US Automobile Company”, we have “GM Falls to Number Two Following Obama Takeover.”

And to think, Government Motors just recalled 1.3 cars....
I hope Gm and Chrysler fall flat on their damned faces, despite Government support.

Better watch out, Ford. The thugacracy will have you in the crosshairs before long.

No....

Alan Mulally was the keynote speaker at the most recent Governor's Conference and while I have a link I haven't seen it. I hear he got into politics and policy.

My guess is a Kansas boy that wanted to be an astronaut and became a CEO might be more politically at home here than at DU if you get my drift...

What that little socialist usurper @ 1600 Penn Ave. should be hope is that Mulally does not throw his hat in the ring to whip his sorry little @$$ politically in 2012....

The private hands GM and Chrysler will end up in are those of the UAW. No one else need apply.

Not really. If GM were partly owned by the UAW that would force them to face reality. So long as the shareholders and bondholders were getting burned, the UAW didn't care. But if the UAW has a vested interest in getting GM up on it's feet then that will force serious changes. It might just bring some of these union thugs to their senses. They will have to face reality.

I would have like to have seen GM go through a normal Chapter 11 Bankruptcy with the UAW being eliminated. They are phasing in a wage and salary structure that will make them competitive. They have incredible new cars in the pipeline. In fact their new cars are significantly better than Ford or Toyota. I have in on good word that the public will be amazed at what GM will turn out in the next 2 or 3 years. We need to keep this company healthy for our economy. It would be different if we had 5 or 6 car companies but we are down to 3 or maybe even 2-1/2 with Chrysler being owned by Fiat. Despite the fact I despise the Obama administration with every fiber in my body and I hate the UAW almost as much, seeing GM go belly up would be a crushing blow to our economy.

GM is doing well everywhere but the US. That ought to tell you something.

I have my doubts about the UAW. My guess is when thy start feeling the effect of market competition they will run to their co workers in Congress and Obama's WH and seek either more help or some sort of regulations placed on their private competitors to allow GM to be competitive and not destroy the salary structure of the workers.

I could be wrong about Obama's help since teacher unions all over the US are squealing over Obama's support for charter schools, closing poor schools and requiring test scores as a part of teacher evals. Obama also condoned the firing in Rhode Island of an entire HS staff that refused to accept a 30 minute longer work day.

Given that there's a lot more members of teacher unions than UAW members @ GM maybe Obama will force the UAW to toe the line.

You do understand you are talking about the UAW, right?
