Rep. Eric Massa (D-N.Y.) will not seek re-election after only one term in office.
According to several House aides on both sides of the aisle the House ethics committee has been informed of allegations that Massa, who is married with two children, sexually harassed a male staffer.
Massa and his office did not immediately respond to requests for comment, but his office has scheduled a press conference for later this afternoon.
Massa, a 20-year Navy veteran, was elected to office last November. He serves on the Agriculture, Armed Services and Homeland Security committees.
Make that HOMOLAND
It could work the other way too. Maybe this was the card that Obama/Pelosi threatened him with. Now that card has been played and he has decided to retire. He can vote No to spite them or just because he still believes the bill is not socialist enough (the reason he voted No the first time).
That's a good question. "Sexual harrassment" doesn't necessarily mean that either he or the other guy is gay. It could easily mean that he was saying rude and crude things... making sexual jokes about everything... basically just making those around him consistently uncomfortable. We can probably all think of some people we've been around that are just always saying the most innappropriate things. Perhaps somebody had just had enough of it.
That said, if he *is* a closeted gay that makes him a security risk. He'd be easily blackmailable into revealing sensitive information to the wrong people. That's why members of sensitive committees, like homeland security or intelligence, need to be screened for such things-- guys that are cheating on their wives, with men or women-- are easy targets for blackmail.
There goes another vote for Pelosi.
Let’s see if this gets as much news as the gay republican Congressman in Florida.
I guess he asked and someone told!
I’m not trying to defend Foley’s actions. If you would read my post I was replying to another poster who seemed to be indicating that what Massa did was not as bad as what Foldey did. I don’t find either behavior acceptable.
He can still run for Portland OR Mayor. Course this Aide was over 17 so he may not get elected.
PRay for America
“What a cess-pool!”
Can’t any of the people keep it in their pants?
This is the most corrupt, unethical, self-absorbed adulterous, boozing and drug taking administartion I have ever witnessed.
Obama admitted in his book that he snorted coke whenever he could afford it. How much is he doing now? Sunday mornings must be his favorite time to cut loose. You know, while the “bitter clingers” are all in Church.
Anything from Fassbender was gross. Never watched any of his garbage and had no interest.
It was a joke (and a bad one at that).
What did Nacy P know and when, she must resign her post -same as Dennis Hastert was treated.
Please ... the only thing more boring than listening to Lonsberry is reading his drivel.
20-year Navy veteran
Don’t ask. :-}
Nope- probably a Senior Chief (and a blackshoe) :)
In the Navy,
In the YMCA,
In the police department
In the construction workers union
In the seminary
Anywhere there are lots of males.
Oh, and in the military.
How much pension we gotta pay this creep, we still gotta support him for the rest of his life, right?
USNA, class of 81. Ring-knocker. So to speak.
Ring knocker likes boys, we had one of those in our Battalion. Pretty funny, his own troops turned him in for dating boys in Olongapo. Seems his troops felt uncomfortable being lead by a boy chaser (not that there is anything wrong with that). Higher command had back at Regiment PDQ to save his “career”. If he had been a reserve officer he would have been dishonorably discharged. Funny about those rings.
Exactly. I do not think a member of Congress garners any type of pension, having served one term. That being said... God only knows what’s been buried, in the numerous bills and spending packages. Kind of shows you how news organizations play the semantics game. Libs retire. Cons resign. One’s pleasant sounding. The other has a ring of scandal too it.
