Eric Massa to retire amid allegations he sexually harassed a male staffer
Politico ^ | 3/3/10

Posted on 03/03/2010 11:43:32 AM PST by Second Amendment First

Rep. Eric Massa (D-N.Y.) will not seek re-election after only one term in office.

According to several House aides – on both sides of the aisle – the House ethics committee has been informed of allegations that Massa, who is married with two children, sexually harassed a male staffer.

Massa and his office did not immediately respond to requests for comment, but his office has scheduled a press conference for later this afternoon.

Massa, a 20-year Navy veteran, was elected to office last November. He serves on the Agriculture, Armed Services and Homeland Security committees.

So. If it’s okay for a pedifile pervert to be the SafeSchoolCzar (whatever that means), then this shouldn’t be a problem for his base. Surely they can put a positive spin on this to get him elected again................

Isn’t Massa that guy that said at a Town Hall that he didn’t care what the people in his district wanted he knew better and he was voting for health care?

With the election coming up in November, will a special election be held anyway, will the seat be left vacant for a year or will the rules be bent to seat a Dem? I’m not so sure, even in a conservative, upstate district, that NY Democrats would adhere to such a fine point of Constitutionality.

The Academy should have been my first guess. They produce the very best or the very worst (can you say McCain) officers. Most ring-knockers stick around for more than the minimum to retire....it would be interesting to read his fitreps.

'At least they weren't underage pages. "

I'm NOT defending Foley - in any way, in fact I'm glad he's gone - but, I don't think the pages were underage. In fact, both the Capital police and the FBI refused to prosecute precisely because the pages in question were all over age.

Now, if the Democrats are going to say Bill Clinton shouldn't have to step down because "it's just an affair with an intern", then why the double standard for a guy who had an affair (yech) with a page over the majority age?

Seriously, do you think this is a scorched earth example of what happens if you go against Obama & Rham?

It could be scorched earth and it could be true too. The two ideas aren't mutually exclusive.

Every Democrat have a skeleton in the closet that the media will ignore should they stumble across it. But if some leftwing bigwig with access to the media, like the National Enquirer or the New York Times, decides its time for the story to go public, their journalist lackeys let it fly.

They unloaded with both barrels on Paterson, and still haven't stopped. He had the nerve to ignore their requests to decline to run and let the uber-corrupt Andy Cuomo have his job, so they buried him. The fact that Paterson had plenty to hide just made their jobs easier.

I don't know this Massa guy, and I don't know what the vague "sexual harrassment" charge entails. Did he call a staffer a "fag"? They could call that "sexual harrassment" certainly. Or he's a closted flamer. Either way, a message will be sent to others on the fence on health care.

It scares me because many of these Dems might believe that they're going to get defeated irrespective of their vote on this Obamacare debacle

I share the same fear. I think quite a few of the "retirees" may switch their vote as one last wet kiss to the Dems.

Oh, boy, I wish I hadn't said that in Massa's case.

Our best hope is that many other Dems from red or purple districts will switch from yes to no out of self-preservation.

Good thing he only harassed the powerless subordinate, instead of writing him a harmless e-mail message like Mark Foley. Since his actions actually caused harm and real victimization, he’ll have to get a complete pass by the media.

Oh, and the fact that he’s a democrat has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that the MSM is ignoring the story. None at all. Really. Honest.
