Yeah, that was a shock. I don’t know the reason for Carillo’s landslide loss. However, we had a Hispanic on the ballot for one of the Supreme Court races, and she won handily (although her opponent was Hispanic, too). I am concerned, of course, that the TX GOP does still lack for having more substantial numbers of Hispanic elected officials, and that will cost us in the long run if we can’t change that around. Contrast that with FL where Hispanics are more represented in the GOP than in the Democrat party.
Indeed. As you’ve mentioned before, we can’t win elections on the basis of white men alone.
