Palin Pitching A 'TV Docudrama' To Major Networks (about Alaska, not her family)
NY Magazine ^ | 3/3/10 | Josh Duboff

Sarah Palin and reality show producer Marc Burnett have reportedly been shopping around a TV docudrama in Hollywood this week. Disappointingly, the subject will not be Bristol-Levi baby drama, or a look at Palin’s nascent comedy career, but rather… Alaska. One source described the show as a “planet-Earth type look” at the former governor’s home state. Palin and Burnett were seen leaving ABC today, Entertainment Weekly reported, and have met with Fox and CBS execs already. The pair will reportedly talk with NBC Universal TV Chairman Jeff Gaspin tomorrow...

TV docudrama sounds much, much better than the earlier post about a reality show.
I hate them reality shows, but then I watch plenty of great documentaries, especially the ones about the wilds of the great outdoors and wild animals.

I think it’s clear by now that she will not be running in ‘12 and maybe never. Reality tv producer is not needed or wanted on a presidential resume. I can’t blame for turning on the money machine to get paid for the insults suffered by her family.

For over a year I’ve thought that SP was the only one on our side who could bring the heat to take down 0bama. But, I think we may need to start looking for someone else. Maybe Ryan or a second look at Jindal - but no Romney or Huckabee.

My sister-in-law and her mother went on an Alaskan cruise last summer. She took LOTS of pictures, and wrote down things about each one, told to them by the tour guides. Awesome beauty, and very unique culture. It is a fascinating place to visit! I want to go someday.

A documentary about the great outdoors of Alaska sounds good to me. If she includes ANWR and the huge reserves of oil that we have there, which is not being exploited, it can only further her presidential ambitions if she wants to run in 2012.

Rather than leaving your cleanup work for any of the volunteer Moderators as you did in this thread, instead simply copy and paste the published title and do not alter any published title or make up your own title.

However, if you would prefer that we pull this thread that would be much simpler. We will be more than happy to pull this and any of your future threads if you find that copying and pasting published titles is too difficult.

Thanks.

I can think of one former two-term Conservative President who did rather well despite having a lot of entertainment industry credentials on his resume.

Don’t you think it’s a mite presumptuous to say that “she will not be running in ‘12 and maybe never”.

Fortunately, it’s a free country (yet).

... this woman is smart. This is an end run of the media to in part explain to the “unwashed masses” how the environment and oil/gas exploration can coexist while putting the size of Anwar in context relative to the rest of the state.

Finally someone gets it without all the fawning and slobbering over Palin; and this is most likely a two part strategy:

1) She's going to use this Alaska documentary to supplement parts of her book, specifically oil and gas resource development and delivery with effectively zero impact on the environment. This should help sell to the unwashed, the concept of domestic energy independence.

2) Take the revenues from the documentary to fund Conservatives' campaigns, possibly including her own if she decides to run for public office.

If I'm right, it's a very clever plan.

Oh my God no!!!! Not a documentary on Alaska. Oh the shame, oh the horror of even the thought of it. Why this show just may show caribou mating, or a salmon being gutted by a fisherman, or worse bears with no pants.

I am loving the idea, I want to learn more about Alaska, and the beauty which is Alaska, she can talk about ANWAR. I think the Hillbuzz guys posted a really get article about why they think this is a masterful idea..kinda ironic that Hillary Clinton supporters get it while others decided to trash Sarah without getting the gist of what she is doing..

You know something, we keep saying how we are going to do everything we can to make sure the MSM, DNC, and RNC don’t do to Sarah Palin what they did to Hillary Clinton…and that we’re going to do everything we can to help Palin. That remains 100% true and will not change.

But, honestly, every day we see clearly this woman might not need our help.

She is doing a REMARKABLE job all her own of beating the MSM, DNC, RNC, and White House at their own games.

Word is Palin is negotiating to get a Reality Adventure Series about Alaska, which would feature her family, traveling around the state, teaching America about our Last Frontier and the Palins themselves.

Palin would control the content, the editing, the production, and the broadcast.

In essense, these would be hourlong campaign commercials where Palin would get to present her brand: Alaska, Family, Nature, Independence, Going Rogue, Loving America.

It is an absolute stroke of pure unadulterated genius that only Sarah Palin could pull off.

A travelogue that’s not really a travelogue, but a free campaign commercial for a candidate who will have an hour a week to show America the sides of herself and her family she wants shown, while captivating the country with the gorgeous scenery of a state most find pure magic.

Genius.

She’s going to define how America sees her.

The show will air in 2011 sometime. Maybe Fall of 2010, so Palin can still be on track to declare her candidacy on February 6th, 2011 as we think she will — which is Ronald Reagan’s birthday.

In other news, there is no interest at all in a Reality Series starring Tim Pawlenty and Mitt Romney, traveling in Minnesota, Utah, Michigan, and Massachusetts, eating cucumber and mayonnaise sandwiches dipped in paste, dunked in skim milk. Pawlenty apparently pitched the idea, or started to, but everyone in the room fell asleep before he could get past his opening joke, which was, of course, about the OJ Simpson trial (since Pawlenty’s humor is always so dated, unfunny, and not relevant to anything that’s currently in the news).

If this deal goes through, wow, it’s incredible.

It blows away anything the MSM did for Dr. Utopia in the leadup to his run. Palin will well-known and well-loved by hundreds of millions once this show hits the air.

Oh, wait, she’s already loved by hundreds of millions now, and she doesn’t even have a show yet.

Go, Sarah, Go!

OldDeckHand was right about the title and also right to mention it on the thread. We replaced CondoleezzaProtege’s made up title with the published title as is explained here:

Yeah, heaven forbid, a documentary about Alaska, the HORROR..God forbid we actually learn something about Alaska, I think this is a wonderful idea, at first, I can admit, when I read “Sarah Palin reality star” I was like WTF, no way, because if she wants to be a reality star no way does she want to be President, and it would make no sense since she is constantly getting briefings from foreign policy people everyday, and she has even said that she would run for President if it was right for her and her family, so the reality star idea made no sense, now I understand what she is doing, a docudrama about Alaska, I think its a spectacular idea, I just don’t get why she didn’t go to Fox with this idea, she works for them, they would have loved it, but I guess since Burnett works for CBS she decided to go to him
