Hurricane Katrina victims to sue greenhouse gas emitters

VICTIMS of Hurricane Katrina from Mississippi are seeking to sue carbon gas-emitting multinationals for helping fuel global warming and boosting the devastating 2005 storm, legal documents showed.

The class action suit brought by residents from southern Mississippi, which was ravaged by hurricane-force winds and driving rains, was first filed just weeks after the August 2005 storm hit.

"The plaintiffs allege that defendants' operation of energy, fossil fuels, and chemical industries in the United States caused the emission of greenhouse gasses that contributed to global warming," say the documents, seen by AFP.

The increase in global surface air and water temperatures "in turn caused a rise in sea levels and added to the ferocity of Hurricane Katrina, which combined to destroy the plaintiffs' private property, as well as public property useful to them".

Wow, should be interesting as the proven fraud from the Climate Research Center at East Anglia more than sheds a little doubt on the culpability of any occurrence (existence) of Global Warming.

But by all means, the science should be brought forth to support these claims.

I’m so sorry you lost your grandma. That’s tough. And your homes too. But rise above “victimhood” and quit being so abrasive over a simple question.

Negative, Don’t be so calloused. Katrina altered lives. I cannot change what happened. Don’t just assume that people who were affected by Katrina are gravy train riders. It was a terrible disaster.

I am not assuming ANYTHING negative about you. You have experienced a lot of pain and loss from this and I’m so sorry. My comment had nothing to do with Katrina, only with you viewing yourself as a victim forever. I think it would be healthy not to categorize yourself that way.
I don’t find any fault with you at all, I wish you wouldn’t take it that way.
