Holy COW- WTH is going ON down there? Looks like Chile is about to break off and become an island.
I wonder if this is some kind of record.

This is right next door to last weeks Magnitude 6.3 - SALTA, ARGENTINA. I suspect that this as well as the Argentinean quake are related to the 8.8 in Chile as well. Serious tectonic adjustments occuring

Lovely. I’m headed to CA next week. I was in La Quinta for the Joshua Tree quake.

After watching the scenes from Chile last Saturday, I spent Sunday and Monday topping up my emergency supplies - changing water and batteries etc.
There is really no excuse for those of us who live in California not to be prepared - or as prepared as one can be.

This just seems like earthquakes on steroids. I know there are hundreds of quakes all over the world regularly- but man, this seems unusual.

Good GRIEF- I just heard on FOX that a family who survived the earthquake in Haiti moved to Santiago, Chile to live with family there. Since the quake there, they now sleep outdoors.

This one is inland, not offshore. Not good.
Anybody know how deep?
