Ron Paul Snaps Up 800 Tickets for Southern Republican Leadership Conference
Washington Independent ^ | Friday March 5, 2010

In the wake of his somewhat surprising — and very soft-peddled — victory in the CPAC straw poll, Rep. Ron Paul (R-Texas) is gearing up for a big showing at the next GOP cattle call. Paul’s Campaign for Liberty has purchased 800 tickets for the event, held next month in New Orleans, at a total cost of $92,000.

If 800 Paul fans show up, would it be enough to win the event’s straw poll? Well, in 2006, Sen. Bill Frist (R-Tenn.) won the straw poll with a 36.9 percent plurality — of only 1,427 ballots.

An email with some info about the big buy, after the jump:

We will have discounted tickets (so don’t buy the tickets through the link above!) which you can purchase within the next week! I am personally asking you to help me in this as I consider you to be a friend and leader in this movement and could use your help in recruiting others!

Here is the deal I have for you (please keep this between us!):

Deeply Discounted ticket to this Free Tshirt Incentives: If you get 25 folks signed up your ticket is free!! (We will have promo codes on the SRLC C4L webpage- get those you recruit to put in your name so we can keep track of how many you get) Upon supporting us, Dr. Paul will be holding a reception for supporters and attendees which will Dr. Paul and adult beverages!

I’ve been getting feeds from both the CFL and RPF that they also are sponsoring as many people as they can to go and chartering buses.

They seem to have taken Romney’s place as the leader of stacking these straw polls.

But just like Romney, it never results in real votes- just a bunch of college kids taking a day off to play politics.

Everyone watch their states. The Rinos and Lefties are still choosing our candidates.

Unfortunately, these straw polls no longer mean anything. No doubt Mitt and Ron will be fighting to win this one, and Sarah isn’t the cheating type.

So, Ron will probably win the straw poll by stuffing the ballot boxes, unless the Mittbotts manage to beat him out.

But it won’t mean a thing when it comes to real elections.

“Well, in 2006, Sen. Bill Frist (R-Tenn.) won the straw poll with a 36.9 percent plurality “

... yeah, and that was such a great springboard to victory (/sarc)

It’s funny how Ron Paul is going the Romney route of buying his way to straw poll victories.... Et Tu, Ron?

PAUL IS not much better than Obama.

An intellectial with latent fascist tendencies, a narcist like Obama.

He is using the same methods of internal advancement as Obama would. This makes Paul as popular as pigs breath inside the Republican Party.

I rememebr how some of hos supporters crashed the televized speeches of the Republican Party, yelling and screamimng like little fascist idiots while folks were trying to speak. Paul would not tell the truth about Obama.

Thats Paul, an effing fascisti intellectial thug.He is not popular with ordinary Americans and therefore can never be president.Palin on the other hand could get a fire hydrant to cast a vote, and thats doing a lot better than even ACORN.

Palin will find her own way to victory, and not owe the RINO faction a damn thing.

Eighty percent of success is showing up. - Woody Allen

TO put it into perspective, if the Ron Paul opponents had their way, the SRLC would be even more sparsely attended this year, leaving the opponents of Paul sitting in a very empty conference room listening to echo chamber pablum all weekend.

It is not surprising that he snapped up 800 tickets. It is part of the deceitful stratey that he used to win the straw poll. The continued reporting of his win is disgusting as it leaves out the all important facts of how he won. Once folks are educated as to his dirty tactics they usually distance themselves. Paulies are doing this all across the country. Beware!

Well, Palin is on record as saying Ron Paul is “cool” and she endorsed his son, Rand Paul, for office so if there’s a rivalry, it’s a friendly one.

Apparently Ron Paul didn’t just send a large contingent of college students to CPAC. There were also reports that they packed the ballot boxes. I.e., cheated.

They don’t check IDs or the number of times people vote at these affairs. They are all supposed to be part of the group, friends who wouldn’t cheat. Except that some of them do.

You can back off the gratuitous Romney-bashing. He is not scheduled to speak at the conference. Here is the line-up in case you are interested in actual information: http://www.srlc2010.com/srlc/liz-cheney-to-address-southern-republican-leadership-conference/

I don't understand why Free Republic has a special section on the front page for the Liberty Caucus, which are the Ron Paul people. They are a bunch of looney toons.

Inside the beltway rumors has this straining, possibly, with the Rand endorsement going away if Rand continues on the plan to endorse IVAW/ANSWER candidate Adam Kokesh.

The Republican Liberty Caucus and FR used to be associated (the former’s forum was hosted here and is the RLC you see in the Topics). The RLC has gone through a major transformation, however, in the past decade. When I was a member of the Texas RLC, it was a lot of rational, libertarian leaning Conservatives. Now, they define themselves as “are you a Ron Paul Republican”. Most of the original RLC leaders have left and the vacuum was filled with the Ron Paul/Lew Rockwell types.
