Did this idiot climb the evolutionary ladder with the rest of us?

No.

Thought provoking, if depressingly negative.

I'll only add that many of us are not surprised in the least by the turn of events in modern times. They are prophesied.

Only those who actually believed man is capable of creating heaven on earth seem to be.

The Lord is omnipotent, why can’t He defeat the devil?

He can and He will when He decides it is time to do so.

In the meanwhile He has given us our souls, our lives, this Earth, and His Book.

Be grateful.

“Yet, each day good sees evil excel and expand its kingdom on earth.”

Doesn’t matter. When one KNOWS which side will win one merely awaits battle.

Aside from waiting for it, the only other choice is to get it started!

““Whose god?” is what I ask”

This is the key.

“Even the most religious I have consulted about this matter across the spectrum cannot answer the most basic question: The Lord is omnipotent, why can’t He defeat the devil?”

God’s gift to man is not life alone.. He gives squirrels life.

His Greatest Gift is Free Will..

If he were to manifest himself in such a manner that was undeniable to the sceptic he would remove free will from the equation.

Just as one accepts gravity with certainty because it is manifest in our lives.

If Christian’s could leap from any height and be set gently on the ground.. the decision to belive or disbelieve would be removed from all...hence free will would be lost.

So.. God leaves it to US, to our free will to decide which side we will choose.. either to succumb to evil, embrace it.. or resist evil and when necessary fight an uncertain battle in terms of our personal existence for things greater than ourselves.

Gut check time..

While we are lessor creatures, imperfect it is our path to a higher existence..

It is our decision and privilege to Honor our Creator..to honor life.. from the moment of conception to the passing of the oldest amongst us.... to defend the weak to protect innocent.. our imperfect path to glory.

Not to judge but to discern good from evil.

Then act in defense of the good.

What a privilage..what a gift from the Creator..

W

Even the most religious I have consulted about this matter across the spectrum cannot answer the most basic question: The Lord is omnipotent, why can’t He defeat the devil?

Then the author hasn't consulting any "religious" people. The answer is quite simple.
