Hollywood Courage: Tom Hanks Fawns Over Obama, Slams Fox News on…MSNBC
Big Hollywood ^ | 3/6/10 | John Nolte

Posted on 03/06/2010 1:30:20 PM PST by jimbo123

Watch the video (full segment is here). Some of it’s just strange. Hanks hand-wrings over parents not being able to get their kids to the hospital if GM is no longer in business. At least that’s what I think he says, because when you live in a bubble where no one ever says ‘Huh?,” much less challenges you, those are the kinds of things you start to say and believe. Scary.

And when Hanks speaks of a propaganda network doing the President’s bidding, does he not see the irony of his being on MSNBC? The day before he was on Good Morning America. Really, Tom, no irony at all as you do the Obama Propaganda Network Tour?

I liked the goofy Tom Hanks OK.

But when he started making "important movies" he turned me off. What's so heroic about making "Private Ryan"? WWII flicks have always beeen money-makers for Hollyweird.

Hanks like many people successful in one area, makes the mistake that he somehow is an expert in another. Like most, he makes himself foolish.

If he (or his publicist) were smart, he would keep his political opinions to himself. Regardless of which way he leans, he would offend someone. Just shut up and make those movies.

And shame on the news media for devoting time to the babblings of some Hollywood type, instead of reporting some really hard news that is actually useful and important.

Like most of today’s actors, Hanks would have staved during Hollywood’s Golden Age of the 30s or 40s

I would agree with that.
Hanks is not even fit to wipe the feet of Jimmy Stewart, John Wayne, Cary Grant or Clarke Gable. Unlike Tom Hanks who only plays make believe soldiers, Jimmy Stewart actually fight in WW II, and he still wasn't anywhere near as arrogant as the idiotic Tom Hanks is about his only pretending to be a soldier in WW II.

Another name I can list to the actors/actresses whose opinions I don't care about. I don't know why they can't just act & then keep their mouths shut.

No more Hanks movies for me. Makes me ill to even look at Zero.. and its choke and gag time when I hear about anyone who is stupid enough to fall for his BS.

If I went to one of his movies now I could not enjoy it for thinking what an idiot he is.

Back then Hollywood people knew their place.

I wish I actually was interested in watching Tom Hanks movies, just so I could say I was going to boycott them.

He's an over-rated, self-impressed supercilious blowhard who couldn't convey being wet if you pushed him off a damn boat.

Actors/musicians with wigs: Hanks, Letterman, Cruise, Gene Simmons, Paul McCartney, Shatner, and Nicolas Cage to start a long exhaustive list.

What makes Tom Hanks opinion more important than self-evident truths and rational thought? Is Hank’s opinions given consideration because he cites Madison, Hamilton, Jefferson, Smith, Ricardo and Hume or that he pretends in make-believe movies with good toupees?

People just have to remember that being conservative is a kind of maturity...it means being in contact with reality (for example, being fiscally conservative is greatly enhanced by having been in business).

Actors, academics, musicians, even scientists are often completely inexperienced with real life and as such think liberalism is just hunky dory.

It doesn't mean they ought to be sent to the gas chamber. It does however mean that we shouldn't expect much out of them, unless, that is, we want to be disappointed.

BTW, just as in dealing with children, we must overcome the temptation to sink to their level in debate.

I always loathed Tom Hanks. Some people say “oh but he and spielberg made movies about WW2.” No they got richer off exploiting WW2.

I'm with you on that. Much like Tom Brokaw and his "Greatest Generation" book, trying to get cred with the vets while piling up the bucks and still maintaining his standing with lefties.

I very recently watched Angels and Demons. Pretty good fictional story. The lady who played Vittoria is very attractive.

Don’t get me wrong. I like Tom Hanks’ movies. And Tom has a right to an opinion, as unsound as it may be. But Tom is an actor and I laugh at Hanks’ opinions.

But when I finally lose my hair I want his toupees. Hanks has damn good toupees. Otherwise, I going full-on Geo Washington with a powdered wig.
