With the fate of his signature legislative initiative far from certain, President Barack Obama is taking his last-ditch push for health care reform on the road.
In a speech Monday in Philadelphia, Obama will try to persuade the public to back his plan to remake the nation's health care system, while also urging uneasy lawmakers to cast a "final vote" for a massive reform bill in an election year.
Obama's pitch in Philadelphia, along with a stop in St. Louis Wednesday, comes as the president begins an all-out effort to pass his health care proposals. Though his plan has received only modest public support, Obama has implored lawmakers to show political courage and not let a historic opportunity slip away.
Despite staunch Republican opposition, Democratic leaders are cautiously optimistic they can pass a bill without GOP votes.

Wasn’t his last “last-ditch” effort a couple of weeks ago?

So I guess once again the breathless reporting by the MSM that Stupak and his gang of 12 were going to bite on Pelosi's abortion add on bill turned out to be a lie. Looks like that story was more propaganda by her staffers, DialyKOsers and David Axelrod...AGAIN.

Obama's pitch in Philadelphia, along with a stop in St. Louis Wednesday, . . . Ever notice he only gives speeches in HEAVILY Democratic cities? I'd love to see his handlers try to set up a big event in the deep South. There would be way more demonstrators than supporters. Lots of groans and booing.
Being his event planner must be a tough job. The pressure to ensure there are no teleprompter technical problems must be overwhelming.

If this Healthcare charade was all that popular, the public would be calling their congresscritters to get them to vote for the bill instead of the other way around.
This only proves how much trouble the Rats are in with the public.
Keep the pressure on. This thing isn't dead until it is buried with a tongue depressor though its heart and all the Democrats are out of the Congress.

How can we be for or against something when we have hardly a clue WHAT exactly the plan/bill is? The senate bill with the house bill mushed into it after the fact (only way reconciliation can work) - what about the Resident's "suggestions" including the pubbies additions? Whatever they're pushing the whole enchilada should be online and available for analysis ...
Maybe if Uhbama parked his butt in the oval office for a couple of days instead of his daily speeches (work?) we'd find out a few actual details ... and then hammer it into the ground. IMHO. ;-)

Hey obama, we real Americans are not too stupid to understand your "vision." You don't have to keep repeating your lies. You don't have to "be clear" on it. We got it. We understand it. It has nothing to do with improving health care in the US. It has nothing to do with improving health care insurance coverage in the US. It has everything to do with expanding government and increasing the citizens' (that would be us) reliance on big-government.
obama, we've told you: no thanks. Really, no thanks. You're not listening. You know what happens to elected representatives when they so obviously don't listen to their constituents? They rapidly become un-elected and un-employed. You've already done enough damage to America that I am 90%+ sure that will be your fate in 2012. Goodbye and good-riddance.

If Pelosi can’t get enough votes this time, we’ll need to be ready for another push during the lame duck session following the November elections.
The ducks might be more wiling to vote against their constituents if they’ve been voted out.

Mr. President, your campaign to pass your health care reform has turned into a
Don Quixote-style crusade the majority of Americans ridicule to no end. How about passing
REAL health care reform like:
1) Allowing health insurers to sell policies across state lines on a regional basis. Imagine the price competition of chosing up to 15-20 different health care insurance plans per state.
2) Change tort laws to emphasize immediate financial relief like medical costs and lost wages, plus require the losing side pay ALL court costs. This will force plaintiff lawyers to WORK to file malpractice cases with REAL merit, unclogging the court system and actually making cases go through the court system faster.
