W.H. put health odds at 51 percent (Olympic Copenhagen repeat?)

Team Obama predicted health care had a 51 percent chance of passing at the beginning of March, according to a preview of New York Times reporter Peter Baker’s Rahm opus, the last in a train of profiles on the tempestuous White House chief of staff.

Writes Baker: "If the president and his chief of staff manage to salvage their ambitious campaign to overhaul health care in the next few weeks — a proposition the White House privately put at 51 percent as the month began, according to an official — then, as Emanuel said, they will be seen as smart all over again. But that 49 percent chance of failure could devastate Obama's presidency, weaken Democrats heading into the fall midterm elections and trigger an even fiercer, more debilitating round of finger-pointing inside the administration."

Baker, who interviewed most of Emanuel's inner circle, discovers that President Obama was, indeed, irked by a spate of stories defending Emanuel, including a recent Dana Milbank column that suggested the president would have been wiser to heed his underling's advice on strategic decisions.

If Obama and Co think they only have a 51% chance of getting ObamaCare passed, they must be in terrible shape. The Massa story today will do nothing to help their cause. Already seen as a bunch of thugs, Obama/Pelosi/Emmanuel getting Massa to resing because he was a NO vote on ObamaCare may be the last straw for their socialist scheme to take over our health care.

Tyhe one thing that could save Obama and the Democrats politically would be to walk-back and create a truly bipartisan bill that Republicans were forced into voting for ... that would instantly take away the power of that issue in the mid-terms.

Obama doesnt do centrism, though, so they are doing the leftwing hail mary pass. Pray God it fails, our country hangs in the balance.
