AS A DOZEN or so top White House officials gathered in Rahm Emanuels corner West Wing office one morning in early January, the presidents political director, Patrick Gaspard, reported on the latest poll numbers in Massachusetts. With less than two weeks until a special Senate election, the Republican candidate was gaining momentum just nine percentage points behind the Democrat in a new Rasmussen survey. The Democrats were in danger of losing the seat held for nearly half a century by Senator Edward M. Kennedy.
Emanuel, the provocative and profane White House chief of staff, slammed his hand down on the table and shook his head with seething exasperation. He did not yell, according to others in the meeting, but his thoughts were obvious. How had this happened? What the bleep was going on?

While Obama has made a point of organizing his own schedule to be family-friendly,
More like “home by Happy Hour” friendly. Then he sleeps it off. I don’t have a problem with the Pres getting his drink on. It’s better than his policy decisions.
No economic briefings today
No foreign policy briefings today
No military briefings today
But he is finding time to meet with the Crimson Tide football team.
You can tell what Obama spends his time doing from this quote from the story........ Emanuel does not regularly trek up to Camp David to spend weekends with the president, nor do they play golf or shoot hoops together; in fact, Obama, an avid viewer of ESPNs SportsCenter, teases Emanuel for not knowing much about sports.
Isn’t it nice to have a POTUS who has such a ‘family friendly’ work schedule, and who spends so much time watching ‘Sportscenter’? Gives me great confidence to know he has the codes to the nuclear ‘football’
For such a lengthy article you’d think they would at least touch on Rahm’s role in ruining the economy while working for Freddie Mac in his patronage position. Instead we get the same breathless puff piece expected from the Times where the writer associates some sort of logical strategy to Rahm’s sophmoric bumbling. If you don’t have the gravitas or intelligence to do your job properly I suppose the last resort is to go to the Congressional locker room, strip naked and berate your colleagues in the shower area. Seems like any employer in the U.S. would fire an employee on the spot for such behaviour, but Barry sees it as business as usual. I wonder if Pinch will start doing this in the NY Times locker room as the NY Times doesn’t seem to have a problem with this either.
I like to see what sympathetic writers say about Obama. Rahm, Pelosi, etc. It was a long article, but the two quotes I pulled out about Obama’s work schedule (ethic), and his choice in tv viewing (SportsCenter)....Even the liberal admirers of the messiah give us a couple nuggets of truth once in awhile.
bump for later
bump your post
That's good to know. Now we know who to blame when he F A I L S!!!
How obvious is it?
Hmmmmmm, a hundred billion or so of US taxpayer money to Goldman Sachs and AIG? Get a clue people - you are being raped!
This article has way too many words and says very little.
