Prospects are good for resolving a dispute over abortion that has led some House Democrats to threaten to withhold support of President Barack Obama's health care overhaul, a key Michigan Democrat said Monday.
Rep. Bart Stupak said he expects to resume talks with House leaders this week in a quest for wording that would impose no new limits on abortion rights but also would not allow use of federal money for the procedure.
"I'm more optimistic than I was a week ago," Stupak told The Associated Press between meetings with constituents in his northern Michigan district, including a crowded town hall gathering where opinions on health care and the abortion issue were plentiful and varied.

Since Obie is on his whirlwind tour, he must not be quite so comfortable.

I have a feeling these Dems are going to cave. It’s just a matter of time and a matter of price.
The Dems will rejoice and I will be reminded of my wise grandmother’s saying “Be careful what you wish for ‘cause you just might get it.”

There is no such thing as a moderate or conservative Democrat. The all are for sale when the offer is there.
Show me a Democrat who can't be bought and I will show you a convert to the Republican Party in the making.

Keep in mind folks the content of any federal version of a final bill is irrelevant. Congress has only those powers listed in Article 1 Section 8 of The Constitution. Regulating health care is not listed in Article 1 Section 8 and is therefore unconstitutional. The people are not bound by any unconstitutional act of Congress. The people are the government, not Congress and therefore the people have the final say! This is the point people need to hammer home with their politicians!

Of course if the politicians really think the bill is going to get struck down by the courts, they may be more likely to say aw shucks let’s pass it and get Obama off our back.

"Its just a matter of time and a matter of price."We know they are all whores...it is just the price for the lay.

They'll pretend to try to do it with reconciliation even though abortion language can't be changed with reconciliation. Stupak needs his excuse to vote for the Senate bill and the false pretense that it can be changed later is his excuse.
It's all a political cover game at this point.

Hopefully the GOP is going to remind them that Bummer is a bait and switch artist.

You also have to remember that if the anti-abortion language is added it could lose votes from the leftwing fringe. This bill will not pass.
Even if it does pass with anti-abortion language it would have to go back to the Senate where the GOP can kill it.

If the so-called Conservative Democrats and so-called pro-life Democrats vote for this bill then they're done. All the GOP has to do is remind the voters of them selling out and ask the voter “where's your lower premiums as promised?”.
If this thing looks on the verge of passing then I actually foresee the Insurance Companies raising rates immediately to try and offset their expected losses.

It may just be noise to give Stupak the excuse to vote for the bill after he gets his negotiated bribe. I was never convinced that Stupak cared about life, it was just his way of getting the biggest bribe he could.

Premiums are likely to explode right away to get insurance companies ahead of the anticipated cash drain.

Having any faith in ANY rules with THIS corrupt administration is a fool’s folly. Contract law? Congressional rules? Any rules at all will and are changed to suit their takeover.

Understand the anti-abortion issue is the main concern of many. Also understand that the other side is just as concerned. IMO, conservatives should be spending their time and effort on the one issue that crosses ideological lines: cost. I do not advocate giving up on the anti-abortion issue, however to defeat a very bad piece of legislation a way must be found to bring maximum pressure from all parties. -flame suite activate!-
