The idiots at AP are talking about qui tam. The concept and law has been on the books since crooked purveyors sold the Union Army tainted beef back in 1863. Many law firms have set up qui tam branches to catch crooks in the past decade or so.
Thievery, yes. Billing errors, no. We already have physicians being hassled over a tranposed number on a diagnostic code. Those kinds of errors are the low hanging fruit that these “private auditors” will sweep up. If he wanted to make the publicly funded health care system even more cumbersome than it is already, he couldn’t find a better way.
Yeah, I just had the same thought. How do these “private auditors” get their data without a privacy violation?
