Obama using 'bounty hunters' to root out fraud
Associated Press ^ | March 9, 2010 | RICARDO ALONSO-ZALDIVAR

WASHINGTON (AP) - President Barack Obama is sending in the bounty hunters to help root out health care fraud.

Keeping up the pressure in his final push to pass health care overhaul, Obama signed an executive order Tuesday that encourages private auditors to search out improper Medicare and Medicaid payments, from billing errors to outright thievery.

Equipped with special computer programs, the auditors would get a cut of whatever they recover for the government.

You know, I don’t have a problem with going after Medicare and Medicaid fraud, but I’m not sure that this is the way to do it.

There have been Federal programs to encourage us to rat out Medicaid and Medicare fraud, for a long time.
However, it is usually a family member, health care provider or insurance pro who discovers the problem.

I am not sure how to get around the privacy and HIPAA issues here.

They know where the fraud is. They get claims from every doctor and have the documentation. They just don’t do it.

Wellcare has an office in Tampa. They were raided a couple years ago by the FBI for $360 million in fraud. While the FBI was coming in the front door servers were being hauled out the back door.

They paid a $87 million dollar fine and all is forgiven. Soros and the Saudis are big investors in this company.

Pity the poor guy who makes a mistake.

Deliberate fraud is one thing.

Going after clerical errors, which are bound to happen, in the same way is another.

I can just imagine the Gestapo tactics they’ll be using. If the IRS is any example of where unrestrained government power leads, I’d be pretty concerned if I were a doctor.

This guy is a piece of work isn't he? WTH?

I received this in an email today: Great quote.

The danger to America is not Barack Obama but a citizenry capable of entrusting a man like him with the presidency. It will be easier to limit and undo the follies of an Obama presidency than to restore the necessary common sense and good judgment to an electorate willing to have such a man for their president. The problem is much deeper and far more serious than Mr. Obama, who is a mere symptom of what ails us. Blaming the prince of the fools should not blind anyone to the vast confederacy of fools that made him their prince. The republic can survive a Barack Obama. It is less likely to survive a multitude of fools such as those who made him their president.” -- Author Unknown

Obama wants to turn into a nation of snitches — I just read something about Obama encouraging people to snitch on their neighbors who may be (or may not be) cheating on their income tax.

In communist countries half the country was spying on the other half and everyone was afraid of everyone — this is where Obama is going.

The Feds don’t care about the privacy issues or HIPPA issues when it comes to the common person, I found that out myself when they advised me that yes my privacy had been violated but they weren’t going to investigate it because I wasn’t eligible for a specific program, then to end the call they told me to go back to Canada leaving behind my U.S. citizen husband! The rules don’t apply then and one must ask why! ID, where I had been living with my husband for seven years has over $1 million dollars in mistaken payments which are NEVER corrected according to an independent audit, and that is just one state, how many other states have as much or more “mistaken payments”?

Whose programs, paid for by who, and last but not least are these "Bounty Hunters" being charged for the programs, or are they provided at taxpayer expense assuming the answer to the above.

Wonderful! New spies to go through the books of every doctor in America! And soon, they will bill the MDs themselves for the audits. Before too long, doctors will be in such dire financial straights that they will have no choice but to unionize, which happens to be exactly what Andy Stern of the SEIU is planning.

“How about using law enforcement bounty hunters to find out who sealed and cleansed Zero’s life and who plotted this destruction to our country????”

I know you all have probably heard this before; but how is this possible? I mean, we saw W’s dental records from the ANG...the arrest report from Kennnebunkport in the 70’s...I do NOT think it is possible that this guy moved through all of the channels he has without a trace, and without SOMEONE leaking SOMETHING...it can only mean he is either a total Manchurian Candidate, a true made from whole cloth product of several lives or lived in such a rabid, bubble-like cocoon of radicals, that they will protect him at all costs...either way, an indictment. I just do not think it is the latter...there is no such thing as an impenetrable conspiracy...something always gives...

For everyone that thinks if we just can get the dems and Obama out of office, you still think you can contain them? I hate to admit it but the ‘progressive agenda’ process needs to run its course. The reasonable rational citizen will only then realize how destructive the ‘progressive agenda’ is and return it to the ash heap of history

Thievery, yes. Billing errors, no. We already have physicians being hassled over a tranposed number on a diagnostic code. Those kinds of errors are the low hanging fruit that these “private auditors” will sweep up. If he wanted to make the publicly funded health care system even more cumbersome than it is already, he couldn’t find a better way.

ALL of them, but especially the media!

Abu Dhabi is future base for News Corp. - Murdoch

Snips: News Corp chief Rupert Murdoch announced on Tuesday that the Gulf emirate of Abu Dhabi is to become the headquarters of his global media empire in the Middle East.

Mohammed Khalaf al-Mazruei, who heads the Abu Dhabi Media Company, told delegates that "the Middle East is experiencing radical change," and that its media should "accompany this revolution."
