RAMALLAH, West Bank – Vice President Joe Biden said Wednesday the Palestinians deserve a "viable" independent state with contiguous territory, seeking to reassure them of U.S. support after Israel announced plans to expand a Jewish neighborhood in disputed east Jerusalem.
The Israeli move has overshadowed Biden's visit, meant to promote a new round of U.S.-led negotiations, and drawn Palestinian accusations that Israel is not serious about peace. Israel apologized for embarrassing Biden with the timing of its announcement, but made clear it has no intention of reversing its plan.
Capping a day of meetings with Palestinian leaders, Biden told his hosts that the U.S. is committed to brokering a final peace deal — something that has eluded U.S. leaders for decades.
"The United States pledges to play an active as well as a sustainable role in these talks," Biden said. He stressed the Palestinians deserve an independent state that is "viable and contiguous," meaning the territory should not be broken up by Israeli settlement enclaves.

The Jews were attacked again and again. International law clearly states that any nation, once attacked, and defeats its enemy and takes land in the process, then said land becomes territory of the attacked.
The West Bank belongs to Israel according to international law.
You can talk all you want about the poor Palestinians who consistently embezzle every dollar meant for the people, but sorry, when you do your homework, you’ll see that where there are people called Jordanians, there have never been anyone called Palestinians.

The Palestinian Arabs would deserve a viable state if ever they elected one, which they have not yet done.
I may be misinformed, but I thought Palestinians were nomads in the past and didn’t have a country. Maybe Saudi or some other sympathizing country could give them a piece of their country and leave little Israel alone.

Bedouins are a separate ethnic group. ‘Palestinians’ are overwhelmingly descended from Egyptians, Turks, Syrians, etc, who were lured to the Land of Israel when Jews began developing it about 150 years ago. There were small native Arab populations just as there were small native Jewish populations.
The writer knows that this is not the meaning of 'contiguous'. If another Arab state is 'contiguous', that means Israel will not be contiguous unless it gives up huge swaths of *pre-1967* territory.
